Why sign a contract when you are not happy with what's in the contract? Gamboa is well in his rights to not sign the contract if he feels there are some things that needs to be changed. He could have agreed to the fight because of what he is promised but if it was not specified in the contract then he doesn't have to sign. A signed contract seals the deal.

Sometimes verbal agreements are just as good, especially with witnesses and official documents stating so, like emails, etc.

The point being, Top Rank is above Gamboa, period. He can "Occupy Las Vegas" but the "man" is eventually going to bring him down.

Verbal agreements aren't as strongly enforced these days I'm told.

Get it in writing, signed & sealed.

Top Rank might have jumped the gun on promoting this fight considering Gamboa never signed on for it.

I can understand that viewpoint, but the only one not surprised that Gamboa didn't like the terms and was not going to sign for the fight was Gamboa himself. And it's not like he didn't know the fight was going forward and ready to be promoted. If he had issues, why not speak up earlier? When he saw reports saying he had agreed to fight Rios, why not speak up then if he hadn't agreed?

As far as everyone but Gamboa knew, he was on board.

why this guy is not saying that one of the stipulations, is another 5 years, and why fans are so dumb that they are siding with a convicted felon like Arum? We don't know all the details but the ones playing the media are TR, Gamboa was *** out of two more years by Tony Gonzalez, he gave him some papers to sign and and hiding inside were those two years, now they want 5 more, the guy has a right to defend himself.

So, what I'm hearing is that Gamboa put his trust in people to take care of his contract's and whatnot (those being Oner and Gonzalez), and they have instead lumped him with bad deals?

While it's not nice, that's not something I would put past Top Rank.

If he all of a sudden backs out, that puts HBO, Top Rank and everyone involved in a bad situation. It sounds to me that gamboa agreed then decided to change his mind about the money or other details and that's not cool. If he wasn't content with the details he shouldn't have agreed to the fight.

He never did say he was happy with it, or that he had agreed to it to be fair.

The comment released about liking the contract was released by Oner, the man who Gamboa is now trying to split away from.
