I do think he thought twice about the fight and backed out cause he doesn't want to lose
He is getting a nice payday a very good payday for him. 1.1mil a career high payday. The 5yr extension IMO is BS. It makes no sense for Top Rank to do that. They still have 2 full years to force an extension.

What happened was that someone got in Gamboa ear and hyped him up. They told him that he could be making much more fighting for them against so and so. Not to go through with it.

          It is what it is.

for the record Bob is taking care of family issues

that is why Todd stepped him yesterday

and Carl Moretti and Brad Jacobs are very high execs in TR so I would say that if TR didn't care they wouldn't have sent them as well

you're making more and more excuses for Gamboa than Gamboa himself

I read and I saw that gamboa didn't show up in Miami. Seems pretty simple to me. Like I said, if he bailed, he bailed. Screw it. You can't force the man to fight if he doesn't want to or feels he's being taken advantage of. Rios seems ready, gamboa doesn't. I guess the real question is, who does Rios fight next since this fight seems like it's not going to happen. You really should have read my post a bit more carefully before going into PR mode.

If anything Top Rank would force it if Gamboa beats Rios and somehow gets a shot at Pacquiao. Then yes, but for this? No. As much as Gamboa has lied and changed his mind I don't believe anything coming from that camp. One minute he hires Stewards next day he wants Roger to train him.

Y'all can buy that Gamboa kool-aid if you want go ahead.

But, dude is getting good money the fight he wanted. And, IMO changed his mind. He even said in the The Ring TV article. That he was in Vegas training for the fight. What fight? If you didn't agree to fight what fight is he training for?
There are two sides to every story, the other side put theirs out and Gamboa out his out. He has said he's happy with the fight, happy with the money and he's already training for it. Then the contract came and something is in there that wasn't agreed to. I'm not happy about the potential collapse of a great fight, but if a fighter feels the company is using a fight to leverage him into something else then I understand the discontentment.

He told them that he wasn't attending the pressers until they ironed out the contract dispute and they went ahead and made them anyway without even talking with the fighter, it makes no sense to me.

i think this promotional problem that gamboa's team are blabbering is just an excuse. they just came to the realization that rios is too much for gamboa...that he might suffer a severe beating that could psychologically end his career.

Gamboa is a poosy, watch how he gets no support from here on out. Do you think HBO will be happy about this?? How about other networks watching how he behaved? How do they know he isn't some emotional liability and how are they sure he won't do it again with them? Who will take a risk on this guy? NO MAJOR network support = no good income.

This will be a huge hit in his career. He'll probably quit boxing and end up in jail again.
