When people are too oblivious to see, it's those fat men behind the scenes making boxers - the people we love, and pay to see - look bad.

Gamboa is a victim of Top Rank and Ahmet Oner trying to con him into a deal which he isn't comfortable with and boxing fans fail to see. Because yes understandably they're annoyed a potential great fight won't take place. But if you just take your heads out your asses for one second, put yourself in Gamboa's position, you'd be doing the same because of being put on one big slave contract.

Examples - why did Donaire try to leave? Look what happened. What about when Pacquaio tried to get Visionquest to look at his finances? What happened there. Bob Arum still owes Mayweather money! Crooked people behind the scenes making fighters look bad. And most of y'all are directing your anger at the wrong people.

Ask yourself this - Why hasn't Top Rank got in touch with Gamboa's people and lawyers since the 1st press conference? Because they obviously don't want to negotiate a new contract. What they do instead is go to a big sports writer. Tell them that they'll award the winner this sum of money. Which is nothing to them as it's one off. That news spreads to all boxing fans and they're sucked into believing that Top Rank are on their side when they're not. All they want to do is keep Gamboa on a slave contract.

I remember Andre Ward piping up and saying that boxers need a union to look after their rights. And he's so true when you look at scenarios like this. Fighters are getting owned by people behind the scenes from left to right.
Because his dumb ass wife became his manager and convinced him that his contract was over when in fact it was still valid

Excellent post, it's just sad that a lot of people here don't see it for what it is. Arum did the same thing with Pavlik when Pavlik was only offered 50K and Pavlik didn't even sign the contract so then Pavlik was the scapegoat.

stop having these BS Press Conferences with 20 in attendance and go back to the negotiation table and try to get this fight done, just randomly offering $100K publicly seems suspicion to me

get Gamboa on the Phone and find out what he wants

Hope Gamboa knows what he is doing. Industry sources believe litigation from TR could keep him sidelined for a year, if not longer.
Seems like thats the new thing to to do. (sit out just to get what you deserve)

          Ask Bradley, Donaire.......
I bet HBO or Top Rank will pay more money because the fight is too hot.

            Ask Bradley, Donaire,
            Neither of them did that.

Bradley had a choice, fight Khan and sign an extension with Shaw or wait a couple months and sign with TR with a chance at Pac.

Donaire was just an idiot listening to his wife that his contract was up when it in fact was valid. He was out for several months while the whole thing was handled and ended up signing like a 4 year extension.

So Top Prank, offered their fighters chump change again while uncle Bob pockets the big bucks?

              Or Gamboa's a greedy git?

genuinely don't know which one to believe, Lol.

It probably #1 but if you agree to those terms, you have to honor them

Exactly that, I'm disappointed with the behaviour of some fans these past few hours. Thought they possessed much more wit than that. Sadly, they've let their emotions and media get to them.

The fight is on???? Come on....if the fight was happening, why would Gamboa intentionally blow off these press conferences to get stuffed with a fine?

Even if he didn't the litigation process is going to take a long time between legal disputes and appeals so Gamboa is in serious trouble if he doesn't fight.
