At that weight with age not on his side as was the case with Duran I doubt Floyd would be favored.....

And I'm not trying to discredit the win IF it was to happen for Floyd..... Just wanted to see some opinions other then my own.....

Fun banter..... Nothing more nothing less

right...hard to compare a win for a prime fighter and a past it fighter though.

duran at 37 was already far from his prime when he beat a bigger, more powerful and younger barkley who just pasted a fighter the calibre of hearns...

not advocating triangle theories and all, but that win alone puts barkley above martinez at least at 160...

Beside the big 2 at 47 who do you think would really enhance Sergios legacy??? I think an extended run into his early 40's would really help or maybe a title at another weight class even though Sergio and his team have been back and forth on the idea....
At Middleweight, I really don't see one fight that can enhance his legacy, I think it'd be a collection of fights. If he were to clean out 160, by fighting Macklin, Lee, Quillin, and Pirog, those would all be decent/good wins. Than, move up to 168 possibly, or keep on taking on the best guys at 160 would enhance Sergio's legacy.

The only single fights that I think could enhance Sergio's legacy would be Mayweather and Ward, that's it. But, if Sergio were to get to 168 and win a title in a 3rd weight class, it would certainly enhance his legacy a bit.

Definitely, but I would say it's harder for Roberto Duran to beat Iran Barkley than it would be for Floyd to beat Sergio. My opinion anyway.

One of the most entertaining fight to watch. Barkley comming off a KO of Hearns and Duran was suppose to be over his head in this match.

Duran didn't have not even one muscle in his body that showed and look like he was way over his fighting weight.

I don't remember a dull moment in that fight.

Floyd would be going in a Martinez fight with much better odds than Duran against Barkley.

It would still be a great win for Floyd if it ever happened

agreed. duran had a hall of fame career at 135 before ever moving up to fight all of these bigger guys at 147 and beyond. at 37 he was much older in boxing terms, having already fought hall of famers in leonard twice, being stopped by hearns, going 15 with hagler, cuevas, and 15 rounds with benitez, in addition to of course a 70 fight LW career against the best on the planet.

barkley was fresh in iran barkley terms at that stage, too. he was on a nice little run, too, only losing to sumbu kalambay recently who was a terrific MW himself.

he beat sanderline williams, olajide, and he knocked out tommy flippin hearns in the three fights after the kalambay loss to get a head of steam

after losing to duran he went tooth and nail with then undefeated michael nunn

floyd is likewise a much smaller dude than martinez, but martinez is not as big as barkley. martinez fought for 10 years as around jr mw and started his career as a WW.

martinez is likewise on a terrific run. didnt look great against barker, who showed up to fight and with the right gameplan, stopped him anyway. same exact deal with dzinziruk but he managed to look great doing it.
won the title by destroying pavlik's face
lost to williams in the first fight on the cards but i thought he pulled it out by a bit. great and close fight.

he stopped kermit cintron. lets get that straight. he hit him on the chin and the ref waived the damn fight off. after 2.5 mins of complaining they let him fight again. one of the biggest blunders i've seen.

he knocked out paul williams with a KO of the year punch, which was what really made him a star. williams had a reputation of having one of the best chins in boxing and had been taking everybody's best shots for years (walter mathysse, phillips, wright, quintana, margarito, lara, cintron, all hit him with the kitchen sink and he never went down)
                  he's a beast.

both would be great wins. the difference for me is the stage of the respective careers of mayweather and duran. floyd is 35 but he does not have lots of milage on him at this stage. he's never fought anybody like tommy hearns, ray leonard, wilfred benitez, pipino cuevas, and the list goes on.

duran was far beyond his best days, punching even a bit higher for his weight than would be floyd. both wins are // would be against very good fighters (martinez and barkley,) but i'd give the edge to duran because of the milage he had put on nature of his win (fight of the year, he rocked barkley something serious, great fight,.)

now if floyd manages to beat the trash out of martinez and knocks him out spectacularly we can revisit the b1tch

duran over barkley was a terrific win and floyd winning spectacularly over martinez for the legit MW championship would be likewise a terrific win.

oh, and i'd like to see the fight at 156 maximum. preferably at 160, obviously

both are great wins, but floyd beating sergio would be a far better win
