I agree, but anything is possible. Somebody needs to interview Gamboa fast. Yuri needs to address these rumors.

Is Gamboa biting more than he can chew? Is starting to realize this?

I just got this image of Yuri signing the contact and only then watching some tapes.

Hopefully this are just rumors until i see pics even walking around 150 he still looks pretty ripped and has never been anything but a tank when coming in to the fights ,the guy had to go to the doc for a low heart resting rate that's how seriously fit he is. That's why all of this seems like rumors to build up the fight more drama = more attention.

Lol their pay check is not close to 1 million.

Fighters don't get what you think they do. After everybody is paid, they'll both have made way less than 1mill.

The rumor is Gamboa has some contractual beef with his promoters... he's like snobbing them or something like that, he's not taking this fight seriously, not training well, etc. He also said he didn't want to talk to the press. There's something going on between Gamboa, Top Rank and Arena Box and Gamboa doesn't seem happy. This fight is just in the middle of it.

This is his big break, it'd be career suicide if he pulled out.

If he saw the Acosta fight, then that should motivate him even more to fight Rios. He didn't do too bad in that fight and even though he got knocked down and out, he showed early in the fight what you have to do to be successful against Rios. If he hadn't start trading with Rios, none of that would have happened.

I believe the highest tax bracket in the United States is currently 35%. That means that on a one million dollar purse, the fighter hands over $350,000 right off the bat to "Uncle Sam." Factor in the promoter's cut, trainer's fees, etc., and a boxer winds up with significantly less than the publicized purse. Of course, these are just fast numbers, but it's probably safe to say that the "average million-dollar-fighter" gets to keep roughly half his gross earnings.

I hope not. We boxing fans have been waiting for a fight like this and we put up with a lot of BS in this sport. We'll get a good look at his physique at the press conferences. I think it'll happen on April 14th, we'll get the fight. (Knock on wood)
