im sorry, but HBO boxing needs to get younger. Merchant and his odd anecdotes and crap interviews need to go.

Ugh he's not an announcer, he's a broadcaster. You realize there's a different correct? Since before you were talking about "logic"...It's not just about Floyd. He's an overall terrible announcer and interviewer.
He babbles on about the "crowd doing the wave" or busting out his 1920's jokes that are no longer relevant. He asks the WORST questions and he takes 2 minutes to get a sentence out. They need Kellerman up there asap.Comment

haha now you're starting to sound like Merchant. An incoherent babbling racist old man.Merchant is there to ask tough questions, not get on his knees for another moron who wants to thank god for 5 hours, or dictate the interview. It's not Floyd's interview to conduct, he's the subject, bow down and know your role. In the ring, he's the conductor. When it's over, STFU and answer the questions posed to you. He likes to control every aspect of his little ****** world, and Merchant doesn't operate like that as you clearly saw.
Merchant just hates the fact that Floyd is 42-0.Comment

That's the real thing. When new fans tune into fights, they see this ancient dude making no sense, telling irrelevant stories and conducting unprofessional, poor interviews. Merchant is a turnoff to the younger generation of boxing fans. The one quote from Larry that will always stick out in my mind for whatever reason is the Hopkins vs Pavlik fight. It went something along these lines:
"Yesterday Bernard Hopkins said that this fight would be between a two construction workers for a sandwich. Will it be a turkey sandwich, or a roast beef sandwich?"
And then he chuckles at his own joke. Still to this day, I don't understand what he was talking about, and this was a few years ago. Larry has long been sliding down the slope since then.
But seriously, what does Larry bring to boxing that either enhances our viewing experience or bring in new fans?Comment

Larry makes you think. Maybe in Larrys World a roast beef sandwich is well worth going the extra mile. Pavlik settled for ****ty left over turkey sandwich. Hop went the extra mile and got himself a fat roast beef sandwich. The one quote from Larry that will always stick out in my mind for whatever reason is the Hopkins vs Pavlik fight.
