If that fight were to have happened don't you think people would've said that Bute is bailing on the 168 division and going up to LH to avoid tough fights at 168?

Also Green K for making your point clearly and without using insults or race as a way for you to make your point.
    Thanks man.

Here's my thing. All of the elite fighters at 168 were pre-occupied in the SS; that doesn't mean fight Jean Paul Mendy and other fighters coming off losses.

To me, once Bute realized that he had to fight someone of significance or else the public would call "foul" on him automatically getting a shot at the SS winner, I would've gone through with his original plan of fighting Cloud.

He called Cloud out for a catchweight while the SS was going on and that would've shown the public that Bute wasn't just taking mediocre fights or a shortcut to the top. That would've shown that while the winner of the SS fought the best, so did Bute.

Instead, Bute chose to fight Glen Johnson when Glen was coming off a loss. Bute also admitted to Glen Johnson being his "best" opponent up to date. To me that doesn't spell out automatic shot at SS winner.

In my opinion, if all everyone had to do to get a shot at the SS winner was not enter the tourny and fight mediocre opponents on the side, everyone would've tried to do it.

Alright I see and agree with ya now but i still say that Bute is the second best in the division behind Ward and with Ward winning the SS why shouldn't he fight Bute?

While Bute did take some lighter opposition while the SS was going on he looked spectacular (minus the end of the first Andrade fight) 6 KO's in 7 fights. Either way, who would you rather Ward fight? also if Bute gets past Froch does he then warrant a shot at Ward in your opinion?

Considering Ward is injured, I say let him rest and heal for the moment.

I wouldn't mind seeing either Dirrel brother fight the winner of Bute vs Froch (forget 2 fights with each other). Ward gets the winner.

I thought that Dirrel and Ward said they won't fight each other because of their friendship? I like that fight though.

How do you think Pavlik will fit into the 168 scene with having changed trainers and saying he is more focused?

Last time I heard, Ward was willing to fight both Dirrels, but I think Andre Dirrel was having 2nd thoughts and pulled out of the fight the first time around due to his injury suffered from Abraham.

I think Anthony Dirrel is willing to fight Ward though.

Regarding Pavlik, I think he's always dangerous; especially if someone chooses to fight him toe to toe. The only two times he was beaten, it was due to movement. He hasn't suffered the KO loss that fighters rarely recover from, so that's good. As long as he can fight his demons outside of the ring, I think Pavlik will be a threat to anybody. I didn't think he looked that good in his last fight, but like I said, if he can somehow get back to the Pavlik of 07 ish, he'll be a problem for anyone.

Now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind seeing Pavlik vs Abraham. That fight should've happened a few years ago, but I think that would be a pretty good one. I think their styles compliment each other for a possible FOTY or KOTY type fight.

Bute hasn't done anything of note to warrant him being discussed among the top at 168lbs. Until he does, he has no real room to cast stones at ANYONE.

That's my point. Your opinions do not change that as your opinions offer nothing relevant aside from him being not invited to the Super 6.

I find that telling because Jermain Taylor, a fighter trying to regroup and not a true 168lber, was invited over Bute? Glenn Johnson was invited over Bute? Allan Green was invited over Bute?!?!?!?

Is it me, or does the lack of an invitation for Bute speak volumes about how those running the tournament felt about what Bute could bring to tourney?
none of the participants and promoters of the super 6 wanted bute to win the tournament. that's why he wasn't invited. bute basically forced froch to take this fight by taking less money and agreeing to travel to froch's backyard. if froch would have said no he would have looked bad in the media

maybe so but he was never offered anything back. at least not that we know of and there is some serious money in denmark.

Ya I didn't even think of that, that would be a great fight. I say Abraham v Pavlik, fights the winner of Bute v Froch, and then Ward fights the winner. Ferocious 5 with ward alread in the finals HAHA!
