    Maidana should stop Alexander

Alexander is massively overrated the guy has no pop in his punches he will not be able to hold off maidana's constant pressure. He has nothing that can hurt maidana. We already seen devon alexander quit like a ***** vs bradley over a butt so you really think he's gonna have the heart to get up after maidana puts him on his back victor ortiz style?

people are too harsh on devon. He got up off the canvas in round 4 against Matthysse and went on to win. Granted I thought he lost but he did show heart.

This is it for devon though. He really needs to prove his worth here and he can, since Maidana is such a limited fighter. But we'll see if Devon has learned from his past mistakes or not.

This has honestly been a mismatch since Maidana came to prominence and the fight a possibility. Moreso than ever after the Kotelnik fight with Alexander - exactly who else at that level would Kotelnik have badly hurt and ready to go? Kotelnik is a hell of a fighter but the fact that a technician with below average power could come off as Rocky Marciano against Devon showed how young and fragile he is. He was lucky to stop Urango as Urango was also coming back into the fight and hurting Alexander a bit. Devon is not fluid enough with his footwork to play keep away from guys that pressure him. He has very little chance against Maidana. Probably the biggest factor in his favor is the off chance that seven pounds works mightily for him and/or against Maidana.

I personally think Alexander looks a bit TOO ripped and will be slower and gas out very quickly. I've also always thought it a distinct possibility that Maidana may be a Welterweight who may or may not hit harder there but will have more gas tank - and THAT is a nightmare for anybody.

I like this fight much better than Maidana-Guerrero and I expect Maidana to be a class above Alexander who is weak mentally. Maidana has hit the canvas numerous times but I don't expect Alexander to land that miracle Urango shot and get him out of there.

        Maidana by mid round KO

A Maidana KO is exactly what I'd like to see happen. I really lost respect for Alexander when he coped out of the Bradley fight. I think he lost vs Kotelnik and lost vs Matthysse, but got hometown decisions. And ten round fights for former world title holders are just plain wrong.

Some people have doubt about Maidana due to the Morales fight. But, Alexander is no Morales, and I would love to see Maidana send Alexander the way of Ortiz.

I'm rooting for Maidana 100%, but it's not cause I don't like Devon. I actually like the guy. I just like Maidana more.

Alexander's chin is pretty good guys, he's been hit pretty hard by Urango and Matthysse and didn't get knocked out. Urango might have been limited, but if he was good at anything was that power of his, if he caught you flush you could say bye bye. He caught Alexander flush but he took it well. Matthysse knocked him down and visibly hurt him, but Devon fought back and avoided the KO. Maidana is gonna have to focus on winning the rounds, not getting the KO. Maidana has to get a couple of knockdowns, and avoid close rounds. If a round is close, he has to step on the gas and try to impress more in that round.

Basically, Maidana will sadly have to do more than just win rounds in order to win the fight. I hate talking like that, but it is what Maidana has to do.

Am hoping to see maidana actually produce a killer-like fight, He seem to be proclaimed a killer without having to actually produce the goods, let's see what this so called killer/Warrior can do tonight!!!

This is a well thought out and reasoned thread. I had no idea that Thomas Hauser was a poster here - well done you.
