Are ligament tears signs of steroid use?

Or are muscle tears more common if someone is using PEDs?

Working with Victor Conte is usually a good sign of it

      what kinda PEDs?

ligaments don't hypertrophy as fast as muscles, so if your using anabolic steroids i guess it is possible. if you are being smart about how you lift it probably wont happen, and it also probably won't happen if your on a "small-scale" type of steroid cycle

Steroids attach to receptors, there many receptors in the muscles and few in connective tissue. Thus, when rapid gains are made in muscular strength and size tears can happen easier. Overtime, your connective tissue catches up to muscular strength. As you get more seasoned in both your training and drug cycles you will see very little rapid growth, unlike in the beginning. Add to that fact that most PLers use the low dose and long term approach to cycling

Google "do steroids cause ligament damage?" and you will find a ton of information about it. But the fact is, yes they do.

Victor Conte has cleaned up his act, allegedly. And he is working with Dr. Margaret Goodman now whose reputation is beyond reproach.

And I'm not speaking about any specific PEDs in particular, just in general. What type of injuries would one expect to see from a steroid user?

Ligaments can only take so much force, if a guy trains to a level that can produce forces beyond what their body can handle there will eventually be a spot that gets worn out.

well an anabolic steroid is just one of the many things that falls under the umbrella of PEDs. someone using anabolic steroids would see their muscles develop faster than their ligaments and tendons. that presents a problem because all three of these need to work in tandem

I get what you're saying. The muscles are the primary things that grow, but the ligaments and tendons get strained as a result. Making them more susceptible to injury.

Anecdotal evidence shows that being in your 40s is also linked to ligament tears.

I'm not really going after Vitali or any boxer in particular. If that's what you're getting.

                    Just curious, that's all.
