The Hype for DLH vs. Floyd was huge. The fight was announce in Nov/Dec 06 for a May fight. They Hype slowly built up over time.

It was the first 24/7 series. which captured a lot of peoples imaginations.

Oscar De La Hoya was a massive Draw.

It was the first time a lot of non boxing fans were introduced to Floyd, he played the bad guy a lot of people wanted to see him get beaten.

and many many many many people said Floyd was going to get his ass whooped (reason that MANY people bought it). Of course we all know the story after the fact. Floyd fought a 187 year old De La Hoya.

even a fight against a prime undefeated cotto wouldn't touch the hoya fight. i guess that's why floyd avoided cotto for so long. probably thought i'll wait till cotto is faded then fight him and make about the same amount of money anyway without risking a loss. genius at work.
