When Haye presented his toe as the reason for defeat by Wlad everybody ridiculed him, especially the Klitschkos. Now Vitali (I don't like to make excuses but ...) Klitschko is making the same baby noises and deserves to be ridiculed for it too even though he won the fight. He called Chisora a coward for the weigh-in slap and we were supposed to see him make Del Boy pay for it the brutal way but the "coward" came forward all night while Klitschko backed off throughout. Any time Vitali tried to up the ante and unload (with both hands, not one) Chisora fired straight back and it was the big guy who didn't want prolonged head-to-head exchanges. Reach, and the know-how to make best use of it won the fight, but the crazy one did more than alright for a guy with still little experience at high level.

Not really. Lewis came in at a career high in weight and had been out of the ring for over a year. Vitaly was said to be in the best shape of his career and was fighting a guy with only 17 pro fights. In comparison, Klit had nearly twice that many fights when he was stopped by Lewis.Comment

lewis did come indeed come in out of shape - and that surely contributed to his poor performance against vitali. but fortune was on lewis' side that he was able to land a somewhat glancing blow and cut vitali. if there was no cut - he was not winning the fight that night. lewis should have had a rematch and came back in top form to clear things up. but he didn't, he retired instead.
but what i want to know, is what does that have to do with vitali beating chisora? oh yea, nothing.Comment

vitali was winning on the cards, and wasn't far from stopping lewis in round 2. in general, it is kind of "unlucky" to get cut in a fight. if the victory was so clear cut, people wouldn't still be arguing about it nearly a decade later. lewis "cut" vitali, he did not "stop" him. if lewis would have put vitali on the canvas, things would be regarded different today. however, that wasn't the case. lewis was clearly losing this fight and never offered a rematch.

So why add your 2 cents worth of Klit-Lewis diarrhoea to the Chisora debate then??Comment

lol at hypocrites here making the shoulder an excuse - he didn't have that injury before the fight so F on that. Any injury you get DURING a fight doesn't mean squat, if your fighting some guy and get injured during said fight, you can't use that as an excuse. Do people say Sonny Liston got a shoulder injury against cassius clay so he didn't really lose the fight? It reminds me a bit of the Lewis business/byrd, whenever Vitali doesn't completely dominate an opponent people have to start using excuses. If he went into the fight with a busted up shoulder it would be one thing but he didn't, it was an injury incurred due to fighting chisora so suck on that. Insult Haye over his toe but then turn around and use an injury in defence of Vitali lol.
Why not just say " 40 year old Vitali beat a young game opponent after a hard tough fight?" and shut up about excuses as to why he didn't knock him out or whatever.Last edited by Daddy T; 02-22-2012, 08:02 AM.Comment

Haye couldn't even do it with a toe.
He did dominate the guy. Quite impressed he did it so long with one hand.
Should be praised.Comment

don't overstate what vitali did, he was not fighting with one hand, sure his shoulder might have been hurt but he still had the use of the arm.Comment

Sorry but you got it just the wrong way. First, it's not an excuse. Second, an injury incurred BEFORE the fight shouldn't even be admitted by the fighter because he knew he was going into that fight with an injury. An injury happening during a fight can be mentioned as a reason you couldn't knock your opponent down but still won.Comment
