But the flip side is also true, most notably Gatti vs Ward (all three fights were 10 rounds).
Its pretty rare. The fights u named a big exceptions and look at the fighters in them, all pretty well known titlist. Johnson and green don't count because that was part of the S6 format every fight was scheduled for 12, no unfair advantage to any participant. But with that said of the thousands and thousands of non title fights each year only a handful are 12 rounds.

Ok well Marcos Maidana would fight a bear if you gave him enough money. So obviously he's not scared of Devon Alexander.

For fat people typing on a messageboard to claim Maidana is scared is the height of ****headedness.

I never said he was scared. I don't think he is...just like I don't think he'd fight a bear either. Smh. But like i said earlier, I think his team did ****ty negotiations and he's just realizing which is something I really don't get at all.

It's rare to have an HBO main event that's 10 rounds. The only recent one I could think of was Alexander - Matthysse.

This weekend both Williams-Ishida and Arreola-Molina are 12 round fights despite not involving a title, so it's not rare at all.

At the end of the day, Maidana shouldn't agree to a deal and then complain about it. OK, everyone makes mistakes, but he already claimed that his management screwed him over when agreeing a Bradley fight for him, so you'd think he'd show some more common sense, especially when Alexander already made sure to have his fight with Matthyse a 10-rounder.

the money HBO and GBP offered was probably good. anyway, maidana's manager claims that alexander did not want to pay sanctioning fees to the WBA, thus making the fight a 10 rounder with "no drug testing obligations". alexander claims they wanted the fight as a "WBC elimination bout" but sulaiman refused to rank maidana because "he is a WBA guy". what i got from fighthype.

isn't it a little late to be demanding random drug testing?

I'm not reading too much into this. Maidana camp just wants to make sure same thing doesn't happen with Alexander that happened with Chavez Jr against Rubio, who probably was on something and tested positive a couple fights before for a diuretic. Alexander is the type of manufactured hypejob that will be protected in his hometown, it's happened before, the fight being 10 rounds was made solely to favor him aswell. If he is on something they would try to hide it, getting clarity on the drug testing beforehand makes it a little bit harder for it to happen. No excuses for him not to be tested now

You misread (unless I mistyped it). ALL TV and title fights that take place in Missouri require testing. In addition, they will randomly select 1-2 undercard fights to test those fighters as well.
