I'm loving Linsanity right now...it really has become the #1 sports story (albeit in the slowest sports month of the year here in the US)...but we can't just pretend that this isn't about race. ESPN shows Asians holding up Lin signs on every sportcenter, but it isn't about race. The entire ******* nation has jumped on the Lin bandwagon, but it isn't about race. Floyd says ESPN is giving Lin more premature hype than they would if he were an African-American, FLOYD IS SO RACIST AGAINST ASIAN!!!! But, I thought this wasn't about race?
The Asian aspect of the story is just a part of Lin's personal story, it's not at all the basis of the hype. I've still yet to see anyone in the media say, "Wow, Lin is playing well for an Asian basketball player!" He is playing well for any basketball player, and that's the coverage he's getting, it's not about race.
Any coverage about him being Asian is usually either pieces on the type of fans he has paying attention who don't usually watch basketball, or some of the signs some fans have at games. That aspect isn't covered as much as Lin's actual play though.
HA HA too funny. We already knew Floyd was a racist and usually opens his mouth without using his brain. He makes somewhat of a fair point but this kid is in the news because he came out of no where and posted up big numbers. This was enhanced to him being Asian sure but this is not an example of racism unlike Floyd's ****** comments.
C-mon guys....Are you all really falling for this?
Floyd is stirring up the pot to bring attention to his name and future fight. It's marketing as Floyd knows how. Creating controversy.
So frigging obvious. Floyd has found his method of advertising for the moment and that's through Lin. He knows Lin is the HOT topic in sports. So, he's going to cash in on all the talk and hype. Only way he's going to do that is to make a bold statement. Talking **** like he does so he can ride on Lin's back to promote his name which in turn promotes his fight.
He does this to Manny all the time. As a matter of fact he just got off Manny's back by these tweet's and all this talk that he wanted to fight Manny. But in reality more marketing for his May fight.
Read between the lines....Mayweather marketing at it's best.
he gets hype cause hes BALLIN,, the dude is the 1st Havard Grad to play in the NBA in 57 years! not to many players can say that look at ron artest lol...
this is america you can voice your opinion. if you go into the black community why do you see chinese food and asians owning liquor stores with outrageously high prices in these communities. Blacks understand that asians are more racist than white people and that has alot to do with it. the media hype is because he is asian!!!!! floyd was right the problem is that floyd mayweather said it and not michael jordan. im glad there are people like floyd, he isnt scared of losing endorsement deals like these other black athletes. 40 million dollar ****** read it
Great book read it years ago. Every minority player on the clippers should read that book and re-evaluate themselves and what they stand for.
So if someone made a remark like: "They only accepted him in the college because he was black."
Or "They only hired him because he was black."
You don't think that's racist at all?
Saying that the person's skill or merit did not matter because their achievement was only based on their race is the definition of bigotry.
It amazes me that many people on here are already giving Mayweather a pass on this issue.
“I’m speaking my mind in behalf of other NBA players. They’re programmed to be politically correct and will be penalized if they speak up." Mayweather even acknowledges the comment is not "politically correct" and has no remorse after the fact. De****able.
“Other countries can support/cheer their athletes and everything is fine. As soon as I support Black American athletes, I get criticized." Newsflash Floyd, Lin is an Asian-American (read: American). Just imagine if that same sentence above is said by a white athlete about White-Americans. The double standards has got to stop.
I'm surprised nobody has brought this up yet. The fact that even Floyd himself admitted that he was being politically incorrect proves that he's a straight up idiot who doesn't think before he speaks. How some people here have the guts to defend Floyd with being a douchebag is mindboggling. Good post.
So you both are of the mind set that saying something politically incorrect automatically makes it wrong and that person an idiot?
he gets hype cause hes BALLIN,, the dude is the 1st Havard Grad to play in the NBA in 57 years! not to many players can say that look at ron artest lol...
faccck no! dude is getting hype cause he's asian!! atleast thats what floyd says LOL
the thing about this dude is that on the night he struggles instead of keep shooting and keep missing he looks and make play for his team mates. not everyone can come into a game and score all the time. even kobe have off nights but the thing with kobe is he wont adjust to passing the ball even when he's struggling he'll keep taking shots and keep missing. with lin this dude is not selfish this dude will find and make play for all his team mates not just 1 or 2 of his team mates but everyone gets a shot. but according to floyd and his group lin is only getting all this hype because he is asian.
