Now that's reaching. Lin hasn't given any indication that he anywhere close to being a league MVP.

And I really like the guy.

The above comment is more of that "Everybody is a HOF'er" type of argument found on this site.

I love Floyd (well his boxing skills anyway). African-Americans do get praise, ever heard of Kobe? Jordan? Magic? Sigh.....Lin is just doing his thing right now and come on give the kid some credit, if you can make Tyson Chandler play like that!

Floyd is entitled to his opinion just like everyone else. Besides, there is some truth behind his statements. Why else would every sports caster have to mention Jeremy Lin as the first Taiwanese player or the only asian player or other labels. Who cares anyways, this is non news.

Please don't compare Lin to Derrick Rose...Lin is definitely a solid player but Derrick Rose has been OUTSTANDING since he came into the league at 19/20 years old...not to mention he's the REIGNING MVP!!

he shoulda just said, jeremy lin is a testament to hard work and dedication, as is his motto, and he would've gotten plenty of respect. but that woulda taken more than 1 thought from the guy.
I'd like to add that Mayweather is simply wrong. All players, whether black or not, do get attention for achieving what Lin is currently achieving. Besides, can't he appreciate the fact that Lin is the first Harvard-educated Taiwanese-American to be doing as well as he is in the NBA? I'm sure we would all be paying attention to the first black table tennis star, too, if and when one appears. Or should we just ignore that, because black athletes excel every single day?

Here is a good analysis of Lin's performance, comparing him to other NBA players of note, including Hall of Famers:

I'm not too worked up about Mayweather's remarks--I just assume that everything he does is based on his need for publicity.

I just wish he would try harder to be known for things other than baseless remarks and petty and not-so-petty crimes. Right now, he strikes me as a willfully ignorant and crass attention monger.

All I see is Floyd playing the bad guy.

Besides what was said wasn't THAT bad. It was an incredibly, very blunt statement but it is true. All it is is haters wanting and finding excuses to hate.

Besides compare it to other racial comments by radio talkshow hosts, and other sports media reporters and you see its not bad at all.

EDIT: I see Floyd playing his role as a bad guy, but also trolling the media and the public with this comment.
