The better name to have on your resume as a win is Juan Manuel Marquez, the better loss to have on your resume is Juan Manuel Marquez. The more rewarding win is Marquez, because it gets you Pacquiao.

This seems like a Mosley/Winky-esque type of business move for Peterson. I don't care what type of offer GBP gave Pete, but to me this is a ****** career move. If he managed to beat Marquez, he could've had a HOF fighter on his resume, and then fight another HOF fighter after.

I think this was a once in a lifetime chance for Pete, and he decided to go with the less accomplished fiighter. But as an honest man, not a business standpoint, he did the right thing by rematching Khan. But it could prove to be just another African American fighter doing the wrong business move.

Hope Khan destroys him in the rematch so I never have to hear about Peterson again.

I'm only going to watch the match for Soto- Matthysse which is a better match anyway....
      I'll take this as sarcasm.

Taking it seriously would imply that your ******.

      And you're not ****** MANIAC.

I guess Bob arum is o and 2 in making fights that he thought were in the bag this year. Thinking he was going to make Cotto vs Pac 2. Now this fight between Marquez vs Peterson didn't go through either. He needs to change it up and make the fights that the fans want to watch because nobody's buying his b.s. anymore not fighters or T.V networks about time.

          totally dumb

this is the dumbest move peterson could've made. Yes, he'll make more money, but only this one time. Amir will win the rematch and peterson will get lost in chasing contender bouts. He's the next gatekeeper into the junior welterweight division. Totally sad.

I think Peterson beating Marquez is more likely then him beating Khan in a rematch Arum must have made **** offer for a Marquez fight because that would have been the better career move

Not a good move for Peterson cause this is a Khan get back fight. The deck will be totally stacked against Peterson. At least if he would've fought Marquez even if he loss Khan's punk ass would still want a rematch. The only way a Khan fight makes sense is if a lot more money was involved plus an immediate rematch clause. This fight is highly winnable for LP but he's gonna have to hurt Khan badly.

Peterson had two lucrative fight offers on the table. On one end - Top Rank offered a two-fight package which included a big pay-per-view main event with former three division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, which would have taken place on July 14th at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. On the other end - Golden Boy Promotions was offering a lucrative package for a rematch with Amir Khan.
