The only way alvarez can even challenge that is make his title be worth something by defending it against a world class junior middleweight like kirkland or Rodriquez.

Kirkland will be the man soon though. I imagine Cotto will be at 147 shortly to fight paciquao again. I think he will beat mayweather
How come you have so many points and you only joined this year? How do you even get points lol... Something ihave never really been that fussed about or asked about

it would be a viscious fight, my dominican friend

cotto has two things going for him against kirkland

      timing
      and his jab

kirklands got faster hands, a better gas tank, faster feet, the much bigger punch

i'd favor kirkland via knockout but wouldnt be surprised at all if cotto boxed with him for 12 rounds and landed the cleaner shots

cotto is still one of the planet's best boxers, even though he's faded now and he moved away from boxing during his tenure at 140 and pre margarito at 147

he boxed pretty damn well against margarito, the guy i'd say is most simmilar to kirkland in the division (without the power and with a hell of a chin.)

As i said im a massive fan of Cotto and i think he is bit out his comfort zone in this division but its reassuring that people think different. I hope your right.

Its amazing how much his style has changed in recent years and im hoping that with his new trainer we see even more improvement in this fight with Floyd.

Thats the one thing his career has lacked is a good trainer but thats Cottos own fault.. He should have ditched evangelista YEARS AND YEARS AGO but its hard when its family

I'm really interested in Cotto-Kirkland. I say Cotto by KO due to an accumilation of punches. And why isn't anyone bring up Kirkland's weak ass chin?

It's a fight I'd like to see, more so Cotto-Lara as Lara to me is overrated, dude can't fight on the inside, looked average against Brewer and Molina.

because cotto has morphed into what is essentially a pure boxer now

the last time we saw him bore forward was after foreman's knee blew out, and even then he was cautious (and foreman has next to zero power)

cotto could really crack at 140, and at 147 he still had fight changing power and combinations, but against a monster like kirkland he's going to be backing up all night.

if he can stay off the ropes he has a good chance of picking him off with something and hitting him on the chin
but if he cant stay in the center of the ring he'll end up on his bicycle

How does a challenge against solid opposition signify that someone isn't meant for the weight class?

there's no way inhell he cant make 147 any more

he is not that big. he made 145 for the pacquiao fight without looking that emaciated.

he campaigning at 154 for the big money fight against margarito, and the easy as pie world title against yuri foreman.

                    he's a WW

i've heard plenty of rumors that he doesnt even train that hard

maybe an hour or two a day
it was in an interview with miguel torres (an mma fighter who trained with cotto in tampa,)
My thoughts exactly. They showed him on 24-7 eating lasagna. He could easily make 147 if his nutrition was right. All he has to do is stay away from moms cooking. He is an absolute welter.
