Because i believe that Cotto is a better boxer than them allbut in thisweight division they would have the size and power advantage

He could be a welterweight and make the weight, but he's still the best JMW around right now. I could see alot of them challenging him, but not one beats him to me, including Kirkland. I think Kirkland's chin would betray him, constantly coming forward against Cotto, you need an iron chin like Margarito, Clottey.

Lot's of fighters lose weight up to a fight, so if Cotto is 152 or 156 for that matter, he could easily make 147.

Please, as if boxing didn't have enough weight classes already! Gatti was ridiculous for saying that ****** **** that he was too big for 140 and too small for 147, and now you're even worse for applying it to Cotto. It's just more excuses. What do you propose, creating a 144 and a 150 weight class? Boxing would even more of a joke than it is today.

Imagine if this was the 50s - you were either a WW or MW. SRR fought Lamotta weighing 144-145 to Jake's 160, and I don't remember him complaining.

If Cotto is "too small" for 154, then lose some ****ing weight and go to WW, simple as that. Also, if he's too small for that weight, then Floyd must be beyond miniscule, as he steped in the ring weighing 148 against ODLH.

LOL its not the 1950's asmuch as iwish boxing was structured that way and wasnt saying anything about making new weight classes... I said thats boxing.. If Miguel can make 147 and is fighting at 154 and is regarded as the best in that weight division that makes me happy lol

He does have a weight class it's called Junior Middle Weight. Folks forget the weight class is not 154 is 148-154.

Exactly, if you can't come in at 147 but can make anywhere between 154 you are a Jr MW.

If Cotto has to give a few pounds to be in his optimum fighting weight then he should keep at the JrMW level.

To shed to a weight when you can't no more is too dibilitating

Cotto could make 147 if he really wanted to. Back when he was in his uncles boxing gym, he had 2 hour daily sessions from what I experienced. I don't know if that slowly increased at the peak of his training. I don't know if that has changed either since he has abandoned training in PR and has moved his camps to Florida. Maybe he drained himself at 40 for so long that he stays away from it. He used to drain himself to a point that he was in a bad mood till right after the weigh in and did that up to the Paulie fight.

He has a cook that he takes with him to training camp and he takes care of his diet.

I would think that Kirkland would be the biggest threat to Cotto in LMW. I agree that the fight can go so many ways but suspect that one of 2 is the most likely. Kirkland gets caught coming in and laid out or he pushes cotto back and overwhlelms him. The carrot head is big and would be tough for Cotto for 12 rounds. All the others I see very beatable.
