I personally would rather see Donaire Rigo but if you're the promoter,HBO or managing Donaire the Arce fight makes more sense financially and career wise right now.

This past week Merchant has seemed like a real company man. I always respected him in the past for calling it how he saw it. He was sometimes biased, but hey at least it was his own bias and not someone else's.

But I found it pathetic how he didn't ask Chavez Jr about his drinking driving arrest during camp and the weight problems that followed it, because "we didn't want to affect his mindset before the fight". WTF is that? Are you his mummy or something, making sure no one says anything to hurt the baby's feelings?

And now this...what is this nonsense about Donaire being 29 and needing to cash out? The guy is in his prime and has years left, the idea that he is somehow entitled to a mismatch against Arce is the sort of viewpoint that I never expected from Merchant, who is usually criticial of those who cherry-pick.

I guess that HBO have decided that Donaire and Chavez are their guys and will help 'develop' their careers accordingly.

By the way, I am not even a big fan of Rigo, and wouldn't have a problem with Nishioka getting the next shot at Donaire. But the guy deserves more consideration than he's receiving from HBO/Arum at the moment.

I also find it annoying when people say "who?" regarding a fighter. If you don't know who Rigo is then you're not doing your job right, and if you do know and are saying it in a mocking fashion then why not criticise the guy's resume and skills rather than his level of name recognition.

Explain, Margarito was the more established fighter in the division like Nishioka is. The most proven in the division and the longest reigning title holder like Nishioka is.

If it was Floyd Mayweather who had a DWI 2 weeks before a fight. Merchant/HBO would have asked him about it prior to the fight. Not caring maybe even hoping that it would affect his mindset. Pathetic, racists.

There was an article on here a while ago, on Boxingscene main page. Where Merchant admitted to being bias against the boxer/counterpuncher style.

Did you read what he said in this current article at the end? He was actually serious and said "who would you rather see, Donaire vs Rigondeaux or Donaire vs Arce". Like how can that be a serious question. Who the **** is Arce?

Oh who would I rather see, the guy who has a 2% chance of winning in Arce, or the fight in which I have no idea how it would pllay out? The predictible fight or the intriguing fight?

                    Merchant is trash.

Yes because he is the best and proven the best in every category, a reigning champ with good wins

Yet Donaire should fight rigo because, well idk why really.
