So Larry proves himself the boxing politician rather then a boxing fan. Regardless of belts Rigo's amateur record should fill in the holes left by his professional record. This could be billed as the experienced amateur vs the professional and it would probably be a good fight. But promoters and networks can't see past a dollar sign so it won't happen regardless of excuses.

Unfortunately I think Rigo's promotional team is terrible, this guy has a great backstory that isn't be used in the slightest.

And a rumor I heard was that Larry is married to an HBO exec's grandma so not only does it kinda make work relations weird, but it also means Larry's going nowhere until he dies, if said rumor is true.

not to mention Rigondeaux is ranked #2 in the division and Donaire is #3. So it makes sense.

No matter where its placed, an arce fight will outdo a Rigo fight in almost any category

No it's not, you're being unfair. Margarito was a 3 time welterweight champ and a longtime WBO champ, he defended at least 7-8 times. A much better opponent than Rigondeaux, even wih his lineage. Merchant is quite right, he is a newcomer with no base. Vasuez was a champion and also the son of a very famous father, with over 20 winning fights.

Donaire's main complaint in his recent dispute with Top Rank was that he was not getting the well paid fights he wanted. Now he's getting them, and on HBO. Rigondeaux would be a step backwards right now. If Rigondeaux knocks over another 4-5 good opponents in fairy quick succession, as I have no doubt he's capable of doing, then he'll get that big money match also.

            3) Arce will make Donaire look like a beast and pose little threat
            4) Rigo is a real threat and has the style to make for a boring fight.
            5) Arce Donaire can sell tickets in Cali or Texas.
6)Rigo Donaire is not going to sell well imo.

Like I said before I understand why hardcore fans like Donaire Rigo more and I do too but its clear why Arce is the better choice for those involved in making either fight a reality.
            Damn Right!!!

This fight keeps getting mentioned only amongst a very small coterie of enthusiasts on mainly on Boxingscene. I've read no evidence that the boxing world at large is clamouring for this fight. I understand his feelings, but he's here only a couple of years, and doesn't know too much about how the boxing scene here really is. If and when this fight is made, he could be advertised as one of the greatest amateur boxers in history.

lmao what an idiot...rigo right now is all about potential but haven't really proven a lot inside the ring. margarito was not just a beltholder but have much better accomplishments against better opponents not to mention a longer and more meaningful pro boxing career. how is that even comparible?
