Donaire is a good fighter and he seems like a cool guy. But, he should stop with the Roy Jones s**t during his fights.
Donaire may be talented but isn't likeable like pacquiao

Bro, Nonito is good. I am not denying that. But he isn't PPV material yet.I dunno if he will ever be with that kind of performance.I am just being honest.
OP asked a question.I just offered an idea.He has to be more marketable. Look, Floyd can sell fights, he's a business man. This is what lacking with Donaire and why he is not a star.
They will go back to the drawing board to see what they can come up with.So stay tune.Hand problems may sideline Nonito for another long period of time.Bummer! I think he will have another long vacation.Comment

I'm not saying he's Mayweather or anything crazy like that but he is pretty technical when it comes to his offense. You don't really see him charging in there throwing a 1000 punches a round hoping to catch his opponent offguard. He places his punches pretty well, although, his offense needs to be a bit more dynamic in order to open up his opponent further. I do agree that he tends to eat punches in order to open up his opponent, that's something he needs to work on but the talent is there, without a doubt.
You also have to take into consideration that lastnight was his first fight at 122Last edited by p4p-champ; 02-05-2012, 12:13 PM.Comment

Are you seriously giving an argument that Rigo is more entertaining then Donaire?i wouldn't consider myself a casual fan but i found his style quite un-entertaining. he try to blast out his opponent, it's mostly obvious from a mile off so his opponent gets defensive and then...
yeah runs out of ideas so continues along the same lines but starts to get hit here and there. it is pretty dull.
i can see people argue something similar about rigondeaux but he doesn't run out of ideas, he's just biding his time and showing unbelievably good defence in the meantime. and at no point does he try to look like a half arsed version of jones jr, or naz. la calidad es la calidad. not quite sure what donaire's catchphrase should be...Comment

Speakk for yourself. Donaire is far more likeable than Pacman IMO. He can speak for himself. He dosn't always say "talk to my promoter". He doesn't cherrypick. I mean you name it & Donaire is better. Pacman is a cancer to boxing but somehow gets a pass for everything he does. Donaire doesn't need passes. He fights his way through it, broken hand & all.Comment

i don't agree that he places his shots well, which is no doubt why he hurt his hand- there was more than one occasion where he was bouncing his hand off vasquez's temple from a big daft swing, which isn't that bright an idea.I'm not saying he's Mayweather or anything crazy like that but he is pretty technical when it comes to his offense. and the eating punches thing isn't a great idea either.
he certainly has talent and physical qualities but i wouldn't call him a technical fighter personally.Comment

Nonito is dope, his wife on the other hand needs to keep her trap shut. I wonder how far Garcia can take Nonito...
People keep saying he should go to Freddie Roach but I disagree, IMO Roach needs to retire after he is done with Pac and Khan. His condition is start to show more and more and its kinda sad.Comment

well on the basis of not looking at it as a "casual fan", if we're looking at actual skills, technique, tactics, intelligence then who is the quality fighter- or to put it another way which one is the choice of the connoisseur?
donaire "i don't know what to do now so i'll pretend to be naz"
or rigondeaux?
maybe i'm taking it to the opposite extreme there but donaire isn't particularly entertaining except when he does conjure up a crazy ko, and he certainly isn't a refined fighter of any sort.Comment

In regards to his offense, that was one fight at a new weight he's adjusting to. Judging by his other fights, I'd say he picks and places his punches very well, technically sound offensively, just needs to be more dynamic.i don't agree that he places his shots well, which is no doubt why he hurt his hand- there was more than one occasion where he was bouncing his hand off vasquez's temple from a big daft swing, which isn't that bright an idea.

Look at Donaires entire career and then look at Rigo's. I dont think Rigo has ever had an entertaining fight even if youre a fan or "pure boxing".Comment
