I think Hagler was the toughest he got hit and it didnt even seem to phase him a bit.

I'd have to say Chuvalo or Cobb take this distinction over Holy. Although Holy was tough son of a gun in his day.

Marvin Hagler was the toughest fighter ever. When Holyfield would say he wasn't hurt, people questioned that. Nobody questioned whether Hagler was ever hurt in a fight. Holyfield was tough, but Hagler was superhuman.

Tyson has taken some hard shots but he has nowhere near the noggin that Holyfield has. Holyfield never stops throwing leather either.

              Except against Larry Donald.

It's hard to declare just one fighter as the toughest there ever was. There's simply no concrete basis to judge a fighter's toughness. However, i do believe Joe Grim should be mentioned.

Most of the fighters that were already mentioned (Hagler, Holyfield, LaMotta, Marciano), they were all tough as nails and never stopped coming. However, unlike Grim, they had skill or power. Grim pretty much had nothing. He was a mediocre fighter who only won 3 of his 101 bouts. Still, he was possibly the toughest son of a ***** to ever grace the earth.

As a below average middleweight, he fought the likes of Philadelphia Jack O'Brien, Bob Fitzsimmons, Joe Gans, Jack Blackburn, Jack Johnson, Johnny Kilbane, and Battling Levinksy. Sure, he never beat any of them, but he was never stopped by these far superior and often much larger opponents. Imagine being a defenseless, skill-less, and powerless middleweight against monsters like Fitzsimmons, O'Briend and Johnson. Grim was one tough dude.

both Hagler and Holyfield where tough. but Hagler was not being hit by big HW's such as Bowe, tyson, LL either. Holy is in my opion the toughest ever. behind him i would have to go with Hagler,JCC, and Rocky, but as it was said before, Rocky wasn't fighting big hitters like Holyfield.

Hagler, Marciano, and Holyfield never quit. Chavez, on the other hand...
