It depends on which Ortiz shows up. The dude has a lot of ability but is not mentally all there. If Ortiz can match up his mental game with his physical ability IMO he would beat Khan in a clear fashion.

      The poll right now is

Victor Ortiz wins by stoppage 32 votes

Victor Ortiz wins on points 4 votes

Amir Khan wins on points 4 votes

Around a year ago there was an Amir Khan Victor Ortiz fight prediction poll and Amir Khan got more than 50% expecting him to win.
Bearing in mind Peterson drew with Victor Ortiz and the Peterson Khan fight was very very close 36 to 4 votes is a hell of a big swing in opinion. Either Victor Ortiz has gone up masively in estimation or people's perception of Amir Khan has dropped through the floor or a bit of both but clearly a lot of damage has been done to Amir Khan's reputation in the aftermath of the Peterson loss. I think this is down to the Khry baby antics and ridiculous behaviour after the fight more than the actual performance in the ring. Although Khan's complete lack of infighting skills and deficiencies were exposed by Peterson. But I am shocked in how much Amir Khan's stock has dropped in people's opinions.
What happened to the "Khan has already beaten Ortiz in the amateurs so it is a given he will beat him again" line? Or Maidana made Ortiz quit and Khan beat Maidana so Khan will win?

People are fickle. They change their minds constantly.

If someone thinks Ortiz is going to win, fine, I can't say he's unable, or I don't see how he would win. I just hate how people say "Peterson backed Khan up, what would Ortiz do" and "Ortiz will cut off the ring and bully Khan."

        1. Peterson backed Ortiz up too. The guy knows how to pressure a guy and land shots that hurt.

        2. Ortiz is no great pressure fighter. On the world class level he tends to box far more than pressure anyone. Peterson is a better pressure fighter than Ortiz.

I agree with whoever said it depends on which Ortiz shows up. Both have a LOT to prove and can't afford a loss. It would be a great match up with a lot of fireworks IMO. But being risky for both, with all of the other variables.... I doubt it gets made at this stage. I think Mosely is next for Khan (testing out a new weight class), and Ortiz is left scrambling for an opponent that won't be a risk to his possible rematch with Berto when he recovers from surgery.

Unfortunately, IMO boxing has come down more to who the PROMOTERS are willing to match their guy with. Too many tune-ups and come back fights.... reward vs. risk and all that.

Seems these fights will just remain in the fantasy vaults with most star boxers nowadays average about two fights a year. Most of these fantasy matchups will never happen.

            What a slow sport.

ortiz wins it. they are the same level fighter imo, but ortiz hits hard enough and he boxes well enough to beat khan. khan has some good tools but he hates getting hit, i think ortiz is the worst type of matchup for him. hes a southpaw, hes faster than maidana and he arguably hits harder.

I am surprised by the results of the poll with only just over 10% thinking Khan will win. To me this is a 50 50 ish fight where either Ortiz wins on stoppage or Khan wins on points. Those are the only 2 outcomes I can see.

At this point in their careers the fight would be at WW. Khan beat Ortiz in the amatures.

I'd fancy Ortiz to stop khan at 147.
