  • Floyd gets minimal credit for beating Alvarez right now....

Right now, Alvarez is not prime. Hasn't had any really big wins, all he's had are decent wins over Rhodes and Cintron. Floyd won't get any credit besides minimal credit for beating Alvarez right now.

The only way Floyd gets credit for beating Alvarez is if Canelo turns around and beats Kirkland and Cotto within the next year or so. He would also get credit if Canelo goes on to be a 3-4 division champ and have a great career.

RIGHT NOW, it's a C+/B- fight at the highest, and no one can honestly say that it's better than Pacquiao-Bradley, if this is indeed how it plays out. This is the first time in a LONG TIME that I would be left saying "Manny picked a better opponent than Floyd right now". When Manny fought Clottey, Floyd one-upped him big time and fought Mosley when he did. When Manny fought Marquez at 144, Floyd one-upped him and fought a prime Ortiz, coming off wins. RIGHT NOW, it looks like Manny is going to one-up Floyd for the first time in a long time.

If Floyd would just force Alvarez to fight Cotto or Kirkland first, than it would be a really huge fight, and seen as a really legit fight. If Alvarez had beaten Angulo and Vanes, in addition to Rhodes and Cintron, I'd say it's a solid B+ fight no doubt. But, he only beat Gomez and Hatton, in addition to Rhodes and Cintron.

He doesn't get much credit for beating Alvarez right now, only in the long run, depending on what Canelo does, will Floyd ever get big credit for it.

Not quite sure what you're getting at... so what you're saying is if Floyd beats Canelo before he actually does anything.... he'll get all the credit for beating him if he does get better in the future?

      Basically.....Yeah that's exactly what I am saying.

Floyd shouldn't fight Alvarez right now, he'll get no immediate credit. The only way he'll get any credit at all is if Alvarez turns out to have a great career, and that's a pretty decent size IF.

He should just wait until Alvarez becomes more legit against Cotto or Kirkland. Right now, he gets no immediate credit, very little.

What had Bernard Hopkins ever done when Roy Jones fought him??? NOTHING. But, Hopkins went on to have a great career, and it wasn't until Hopkins went on to beat people like Lipsey, Johnson, Jackosn, that people gave Roy big credit for beating him. Now, Hopkins went on to be a HOF, and Jones gets huge credit for beating him handily.

That's the only way Floyd will ever get credit, and it's a big IF on whether or not Alvarez will turn out to be great or not.

So then all is well that ends well eventually when Floyd beats him, the guy is 35 and I doubt is going to be boxing much longer he can't wait around for years until this kid builds a better resume.

You don't make any sense... Alvarez is a dangerous fight... more dangerous than the Ortiz fight... I'd actually be shocked if mayweather takes this fight

both him and pac are taking some dangerous fights, risking this huge pay day fight they could have..... HIGH RISK, little reward fights...

          this is ******

I just made a thread on this so, question is, who can floyd really fight? No one from Top Rank we all know that. So who is there?

Alvarez could have asily fought someone like Vanes next, than the Kirkland-Molina winner, if he really wanted to get a Floyd fight.

He should have fought Cotto at 154 lbs. At least he gets Cotto on his resume while Miguel is still good.

              Mayweather-Cotto at 154> Mayweather-Alvarez at 154......RIGHT NOW.

How is Canelo more dangerous than Ortiz when he has done NOTHING?

He gassed out early against a shot Kermit Cintron and was almost KTFO by Cotto's 40 y/o featherweight brother..

Floyd is not interested in credit, he is interested in money.
