NAH man this is bull****. Canelo is untested, has a gift belt, and has weak stamina which is easily exploitable by floyd. Not to mention if he can fight canelo at 154 then he should be able to fight martinez at that weight.

I'm a Floyd fan, but this isn't a fight I would like to see at all. I'm pretty sure there was interest in a Cotto fight at 154 first. It's a better match up boxing wise, and also I believe financially better too. However, for one we don't know if this Canelo Mayweather is an actual done deal. We also don't know the details of Cotto's negotiations with Mayweather and his negotiations with Top Rank. Maybe Top Rank just gave him a ridiculous offer? Nobody knows but them right now. It wasn't a simple choice for Mayweather as to just go okay so it's down between Canelo or Cotto, because Cotto was still getting offers from Top Rank at the same time.

I'm not going to lie, there have been several thread that I wanted to comment on, only to read your post, and see that you summed up my exact thoughts on the topic.

Ironically I was just watching Alvarez vs Gomez earlier today as well as the Cintron fight.

Alvarez is nothing more than a glorified prospect.

Could he be great....possibly, but he is in the same category as guys like Broner, Russell Jr., Jesse Vargas and others.

at least with russell jr or broner you could see the burgeoning potential and talent.

Why do you think Alvarez has fought a LW, and a couple of WW's at 154 instead of the big dogs such as Cotto, Kirkland, Martinez and others?

They are still bring him along, just like Broner and others are being brought a long as prospects.
