I don't feel the Marg fight should've happened in 06 because there were so many options at the time. But in 08, the smoke at 147 cleared and Cotto and Mayweather were the last one's standing.

But let's be consistent here. I can admit when I felt Floyd has done wrong.

Why can't you do the same with Pac instead of playing dense?

Has Pac "ever" been in the wrong in your eyes? If so, what?
but the smoke at 147 didn't really clear Cotto lost right after he was on top for maybe 6months? same with Margarito and Floyd fought Mosley
I think if either Cotto or Margarito kept winning then it would have been a Mayweather vs Pacquiao like situation and the fight would had to be made or at least attempt to make it

But the only reason Cotto fought Margarito was because there were no other fights. Since Floyd retired, the only fight left for Cotto was Margarito.

      Check it out:

Mosley lost to Cotto a few months prior.
      Williams lost to Quintana.
      Hatton lost to Mayweather.
Margarito lost to Williams but kind of fought his way back up with a few wins.
      Clottey lost to Margarito.

Besides a green berto, who was left to fight at 147?

Looks like a smoke cleared picture to me considering how the WW picture looked from 04-06.

right now the smoke is clear and we know its Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather it wasn't like that and Cotto couldn't even keep wining and shame Mayweather out of retirement

Ummmm Mayweather was asking to fight Cotto in 2006 when Cotto was just starting to make a name for himself. Are you saying Cotto was more of a legit contender in 06 than early 08 coming off a win against Mosley?

From what I remember, Floyd didn't fight Cotto early 2008 because his fan base wasn't big enough.

yeah if they kept winning like judah who was on a negative 1 win streak maybe they would have gotten the fight.

from what I remember that fight was signed before supposed to be an easy win and Baldomire decided to **** it up kind of like Marquez vs Ramos

Floyd was going to retire post Hatton for at least a year regardless if you watched the Hatton 24/7 you would see Floyd was dealing with injuries and he said his body was breaking down, what I'm saying is if Cotto kept winning then Floyd would've fought him or at least try to work with Top rank

No his fight stipulations in early 2008 was a rematch with De La Hoya or retire.

How can it be ok to fight DLH in early 08 (when most say he clearly beat him) but not fight Cotto?

How can he retire due to injuries, but still try to schedule a 2nd fight with DLH at the same time?

As a matter of fact, Mayweather was even discussing going to MMA instead of staying in boxing and fighting Cotto.

No Floyd turned down the DLH rematch it would have taken lots of Money to keep him active but he was going to take a break regardless

                      Read this article.

Mayweather-DLH were looking at fighting in September 2008; Mayweather was also in talks with Dana White and Mark Cuban to do MMA if he quit boxing.

Wlad and Mayweather Sr begged Mayweather Jr not to do MMA.

He couldn't be too injured or tired of fighting if all this was being considered.
