    Very true.
it be great to see Rigo grow a larger fan base.

For that to happen, he'll have to take the fight to his opponents if they're not taking it to him. Truth is, I wouldn't bother watching Rigo if he wasn't Cuban. Fans want excitement, not a display of skill. If the two are combined, so much the better. Aside from the first and sixth rounds versus Ramos, Guillermo did nothing but pose. Nobody pays to see that. Rigo needs to understand that it's not enough to win. You have to win in entertaining fashion.

they do get to see all these guys on hbo and what have you- they get all that for like next to nothing off cheeky satelite hook ups.
I was in zaza de medio, havana, santi spiritus and trinidad. I agree all the cubans did tell me lara was the best but they spoke very highly about rigo . Im going again this year to try and catch the boxing championships they have each year there. I tell you they were disapointed about solis .

Another reason is that many Cuban-Americans have this old, misguided idea that guys like Rigo and Gamboa somehow represent the communist government in Cuba. They're stuck on this notion that supporting them is akin to supporting Castro. Lastly, I think that the realization that Cubans are making noise in pro boxing is coming slowly. It's been decades since this last happened and the Cuban community lost interest. It's going to take some time for them to come around. Watch what happens if Gamboa becomes a real P4P star. There's a lot of money in the Cuban-American community; therefore, there's a lot of potential support.
It use to b that way, not any longer, the new generation doesn't care much if you were born here or just arrived, and with the right promotion and the right opponents they can fill the Miami Arena like they did with Casamayor vs. Seda, the fan base crap is a myth, that's Arum blowing smoke up ppl's arse so he doesn't have match his cow cash against any Cuban, that day Ali, Dundee and other luminaries of the boxing World were present and the place was packed, to b the best you have to face the best, not anymore, what you need is a good lier promoter...

The thing is not how he -Rigondeaux- doest it as where he comes from, Whitaker was the most boring fighter you could ever watch, but he was for years in the P4P on everyone list, so Whitaker could run all day and b a marvelous fighter but Rigondeaux is boring and needs to b more aggressive,a least he can end a fight with one punch, Sweet Pea couldn't crack an egg

I don't think so. Some day it might be; but right now, there are too few Cubans fighting as pros. If the day arrives when Cuban stars are plentiful, then I'll have no problem watching them fight each other.
I would have said "when the day arrives AGAIN"

There was a time when they were plentiful in the pro ranks, not just a handful. Kid Tunero, Sugar Ramos, Paret, Kid Chocolate, Kid Gavilan, El Feo... there were loads of them. Castro changed all that. My grandfather had tons of clippings on all the Cuban boxers, a real treasure trove.

How about Guillermo gets a couple more fights in and faces someone like Nishioka, Donaire, or Moreno? And Gamboa faces Mikey Garcia or Broner?
