Donaire knows very well Gamboa's not gonna hang around 126 all year waiting for him. Donaire's theory of 'a boring calculating' Rigondeaux and preference to fight Gamboa is contradicting.

Gamboa is a phenom but his performances vs for instance: PDL, Salido, and Barros weren't edge of you seat thrillers, and probably more enjoyable to a boxing purist.

Donaire instead of bashing Rigondeaux's style should've sticked with what's true, which is Rigo at this moment doesn't bring enough billete$ to the table.

i'd agree with all that!
lara is the most classic boxer of the three, especially watching some of his amateur bouts. very rounded set of techniques and tactics which the cubans prize, as well as a bit of the cuban style of course.

i like solis a lot, and really really want him to sort himself out and get to where he should be. i'd actually like to see him against david haye (again!). i reckon it would be interesting but that the class of solis would embarass haye really.

Haye's probably done (at least, I hope so). He totally embarrassed himself versus Wlad. Speaking of embarrassments, Solis did the same versus Vitali. Maybe Odlanier and David should have a "battle of the embarrassments!" lol

If Solis is to come back, he'd better keep his mouth shut and his nose to the grindstone. I'd be happy to support him if he does those two things.

(By the way, I'd love to see that Rigo documentary when they finally finish it.)

Unfortunately, every fight can't be a stunner. Nobody can promise that. And as a fighter's competition rises, it gets tougher to deliver exciting performances. I love to watch Yuri fight, even when his outings aren't quite up to par. Gamboa is a force of nature.

i dunno, i'm certain the solis injury was legit- i can't see him taking a dive through being scared, he was doing well up til that point anyway. the aftermath and complaints about his weight which probably exacerbated the old injury, and blowing his big chance, that's the embarrassing part.
with haye it was the whole damn lot that was embarrassing!

yeah i hope haye's done and that solis gets back on it. would mind a combination of solis working hard to trash haye putting him into retirement! ha ha.

i dunno, i'm certain the solis injury was legit- i can't see him taking a dive through being scared, he was doing well up til that point anyway. the aftermath and complaints about his weight which probably exacerbated the old injury, and blowing his big chance, that's the embarrassing part.

I didn't mean to imply that the injury was fake or that Solis took a dive. Odlanier talked a lot of shit leading up to the fight, then he went out with a whimper. That's the risk you take when you talk too much trash: looking like a fool. If Solis had been a little more businesslike, he would've gotten a lot more sympathy for that injury. Of course, not taking your career very seriously and putting undue stress on your joints by consistently being at least thirty pounds overweight doesn't exactly inspire sympathy, either.

i hope the injury has made him have a good think, and that he's watching how his compatriots are doing and follows their example. i believe he could be a real force. could, could could. a skilled heavyweight with quick hands and good footwork- how much would we all enjoy that?!

I hope so. A guy like Solis can really add some ****e to the heavyweight division. It would be difficult to wrest a title from the K brothers, but Odlanier is one of the few who have a realistic hope of doing so. The man has talent and skills. It's a damned shame to watch all that go down the toilet.

One more thing: Solis really hurt his chances with all his trash talk. Vitali probably would've been understanding of that unfortunate injury and given Odlanier another shot (if the elder Klitschko hasn't yet retired). As it is, Solis goes to the back of the line after his injury fully heals. The idiot....
