you dont understand it because you have not realized how genius Arum is. Get this, they are picking Cotto knowing that they can beat him but they are being consistent in wanting to get an advantage at any cost!
    Margo at 150
    De la Hoya at 147
    Cotto at 145
    Marquez 3 at 144

and dont get me started in a topic that for some reason people tend to forget...drug testing!

ha! you are right. I got carried away. Pacman deserves some credit for doing what he is done! I am though one of those who questioned him for not wanting to take the test some time ago. Really? 40, 50 mill for a fight and not wanting to take some blood test? Very questionable. Khan, Sergio Martinezand many others would comply with this requirement EXCEPT Pacquiao. Why? Mosley said that he had never been hit with a punch like Pacman's in the 3rd round of their bout. Mosley fought Cotto, Mayorga, De la Hoya, Mayweather... really!

Arum is too smart to let Pac fight Cotto at 150. Not because Pac can't beat Cotto at 150, more so because it would show Pac and Arum ducked Martinez and Dibella respectively at 150. Arum already showed his hand/a$$ by stating that the only way Pac could fight Martinez at 150 is if they did a same day weigh-in (which commissions like Vegas, California etc. would never agree to anyway), so there's little chance that 150 becomes the catchweight limit for Pac/Cotto II. And you'll recall that the 3-headed monster (better known at Arum, Roach & Ariza) all spoke in unison that Pac will never fight above 147 again after the rib shot he took from Margs at 150. So this next fight with Cotto will prolly be 149 so Arum can still save face (a scale still in the 140's not the 150's) and quell the negative publicity that would chip away further at not only Pac's slightly tarnished image, but also the PPV numbers in June.

Because after all is a business!!! How many of us have taken a beating for free in our lifetime? For 25 mill, believe me most people would take that fight.
And Arum would sell it just like he sold Clottey vs Pacquiao. Clottey, really?

What you can't get through your head about this topic is Margarito had an advantage in the first fight. Just because you don't believe doesn't make it true or false. Margarito has no one to blame but himself for any catchweight he is involved with, he brought in on himself.

As far as the people saying 1 pound should be easy, who said Cotto didn't have problems making weight with Clottey? Who is to say that Cotto didn't weigh 146.9? It doesn't matter anyway, because 150+ cotto >>>> 145 Cotto it's that simple. To the pac fans saying "Cotto should just man up and take the fight..." Cotto didn't ask for the Manny fight, he was brought up as an option and Manny is the one saying 147 or bust. Cotto wasn't asking for the fight he has options, Manny went for the option that offered him the most money and nothing more. I think what Cotto meant is that he knows aside from Mayweather, Cotto is MANNY's biggest paday. If money talks we'll see if Manny decides to budge on the weight, which I doubt he will. You don't ask for the guy you pummeled to lose 7 pounds to face you again, unless you are a b*tch. Pac qualifies at the moment.

At the end of the day Arum will not let Pacquiao fight Cotto at 154 because he knows that Miguel has a good chance of beating Manny at that weight. Well Arum I think should just press the catch weight concept in his arse for this fight, and just let Pacquiao fight Bradley or Peterson. The most that Cotto should go down is 153.

Very well said. Unfortunately it is just business. Come on people! There is a reason Ali, Louis are legend. They did not refused any challenge. Mayweather, Pacquaio claim to be atg. but they are not! Always looking for an advantage (pacman), not taking a real risk (FMM). One thing is to make money and another is to look for greatness, for inmortality amongst boxing fans.
Mayweather is probably the most talented boxer in our generation, but he refused to fight Pacman without the test. There is one dude who gave al the advantages to pacman: ring size, weight, glove size, not drug blood testing and still beat him, Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez.
