By your logic like you've stated.Pacquiao pulps Cotto again, beats the breaks out of him, beats him at any weight, yada yada why is Pacquiao insinuating the fight be below Jr MW level?

Just a simple response I'd like to get from you.
Because, Pac like many divas before him...Love to fight under their terms...Even if it deludes the win..As long as is in their terms.

Now as a fan. Personally myself. Pac said after the Marg fight that was it. 147 was his limit. He will not go up higher. And, he hasn't since. And, I agree with him in that aspect. I think 147 is his limit. Doesn't mean he can't beat someone like Cotto at 154. But, even on fight night he barely is at 150 if that. So I believe 147 thus is why I don't feel he is ducking Martinez nor that he is obligated to fight Sergio. However, if he fights Cotto at 150+ once he gets threw with him. There's no excuses on why not to fight Martinez. So then he would be ducking Martinez.

Pacquiao and Roach want the title on the line so that Pacquiao can try win his 7th world title in seven different weight classes. Although you would think that having a world title fight at 145 would be bending the rules a little, the WBO apparently doesn’t care and is more than willing to have Pacquiao fight for the title regardless of whether it’s under the normal welterweight limit of 147.

Cotto, obviously, isn’t happy about it but it appears he has no choice in the matter. Cotto has been saying that he’ll vacate his WBO title if they force him to fight for the title at the lower weight of 145 instead of 147. But, even if Cotto does vacate the title, it appears that the WBO will then immediately make the number #1 challenger and thereby have the title on the line anyway.

So even if Cotto gives up his belt or is stripped of his title, the title will still be on the line for the fight despite the bout being held at a catch weight below the normal welterweight upper limit of 147. Now, it looks like Cotto will have to decide whether he wants to fight under those conditions. This was supposed to be a voluntary defense but it looks as if Cotto will end up without his title if he decides to walk away from the fight. If you ask me, this sounds pretty crummy.

It looks like Cotto has little choice but to give this handicap for Pacquiao if he wants to fight him.

      • instead of a catchweight on official weigh-in day...why not have a weight limit on fight day...for cottos 154 title...say a weight limit of 156

pac only puts on about 2lbs from official weigh-in (144/145) to nite of the fight weight of about 146/147...pac is the only boxer i know of that fights at the TRUE/REAL weight limit.

if boxing truly wanted boxing to be as even as possible...boxing needs a rule that says a boxer cannot weigh no more than 5 lbs over the weight limit on fight nite...that would stop boxers from trying to gain 10, 15,20+ lbs come fight nite...which is b/s

Why would the WBC threatened Cotto when Cotto has never ever carried the WBC belt?

Cotto said he wouldn't pay the sanctioning fee and put his belt on the line if it wasn't at 147. He said if the fight took place at 145 then that's fine he wouldn't pay the sanctioning. WBO said, that since Pac is paying the sanctioning fee that if he won he would get the belt. If Cotto didn't pay it then if Cotto won the belt would go vacant. Arum offered to pay Cotto sanctioning fee.

So in reality its all about Martinez eh? Lets not fight Cotto at 154 even though he's easy chops and gives Pacquiao another chance to collect a belt in another division all due to because a man named Sergio Martinez would call us out in public.

                Who's "us"

I'm not part of Pac team...The Martinez thing I made it clear that it was "personally myself." Pac-Cotto issue is that Pac is a diva that likes to fight under his terms. Which I also made it clear. '

Even if the mega fight between Floyd was 3 yrs from now I could still see Pacquiao using the weight leverage.Cotto's easy chops remember even at 154.I just don't see Pac not doing it @ full weight due to concerns of those 154lbs calling his weight bluff."if he can fight cotto at 154 why not me?"-all 154lbs.and I like Pacquiao.
