Would you give Floyd full credit if he fight Martinez at 150?

that was a long time ago, but that's what i remember. i havnt rewatched the fight a boatload, and rarely do the youtube versions you see have that part of the broadcast

his fight with marquez was coming off of the longest layoff of his career

to assume that he couldnt weigh 155-160 is at least as much of a leap as to assume that he could not

there have been plenty of cases of fighters altering the amount that they rehydrate depending on the opponent
i'm certainly not the only person to speculate that floyd padded his advantage in size by walking into the ring heavier than he had previously

and obviously it cannot be overstated that he had not boxed for nearly two years
The bold: That's impossible, HBO had no official weigh in for either De La Hoya or Mayweather, and it was the first of a string of bouts in which Mayweather had no unofficial weight. I have the fight right here on my comp and Jim Lampley clearly states that there is no unofficial weigh in tonight for neither fighter.

@ Floyd coming off a 2 year lay off and that being a good reason why he would weigh 160 on fight night against Marquez: He had nearly two years off coming in to the Ortiz fight, he was two years older, mid 30's, yet came in weighing 150 pounds.

I just don't see it, why come in at 160 when you're 32, but come in at 150 when you're 34. Either he's been coming in at 150 all this time, or lower. As fighters age, they go higher in weight, they rehydrate more on fight night, not go lower. That's so unhealthy, it's almost impossible to think that.

Whether the speculations are actually true and Floyd did actually come in at 155-160 pounds, then he really fooled me. Cause I just don't see it, it just doesn't make any sense to me, and there's no proof that he did come in that high. I rather go by the actual facts I can see, rather than speculation. We will just agree to disagree I guess. You may be right, I may be wrong, who knows, but I can only go by what I see and what makes the most sense.

There's no buts and ifs about it, Floyd should stick to his anti-catch weight code. I know the Marquez bout was at catch weight, but it was before he preached against CW fights. Now he has no choice but to let Martinez have the comfort level playing field to make it competitive by fighting him at 154.
          1. Did SugarQ said you wanted Floyd to lose?

          2. Floyd is a walking contradiction. Every time Floyd opens his mouth more than likely is going to be a contradicting statement. Of course Floyd has a choice. He is not a JMW, he is a WW. That's the weight-class he campaigns in. Martinez called him out, not the other way around.

          3. If anyone should have stuck to his guns it should have been Martinez. Saying no lower than 154. But, Martinez like Floyd is another guy who's a walking contradiction. And, he said 150. So why should Floyd go to 154? Why give Martinez an advantage of those 4 pounds? Martinez shouldn't have mentioned 150.

          4. It can only be 3 reasons, why Martinez would say 150.
          A) He honestly feels he will be comfortable at 154. And, if that's the case then what's the problem? We would have a great fight.
          B) He doesn't feel comfortable but he's trying to cash out. Then I have no sympathy for him.
          C) He lied about actually wanting to fight at 150. And, just said to get his name bigger by using Floyd(and Pac) name.

Quote a "*****" who said this or something along those lines?

You basically just quoted something that Pacfans would say. In this whole thread, every Floyd fan that I am aware of, is against the 150lb catchweight.

Blah, both sides contradict themselves. The same Pac fans who defend Pac catch-weights are wanting to downgrade Floyd if he fights Martinez at a catch-weight.

The fans that criticize Pac for his catch-weights and defend Floyd are just like the extremist Pac fans.

Those fans and I read your post before. So you're like them as well. Are more of a fan of a particular fighter then a fan of the sport. So you guys stay one your knees with your mouth open catching every single drop from Floyd and/or Pac.

Who cares if he's inexperienced. Or if he's been hyped up by HBO, it will only make Floyd look that much better if he wins.

Canelo will come in fight night with a great size advantage. He has good power, and decent speed. I didn't like Canelo at first, but I think now he's alright. I think a Sergio fight would be boring.
Martinez at 150 is still a better fighter than Canelo or Cotto is at any weight.

i can revisit the fight. you may be right
i seem to remember that being the case, but i've literally seen thousands of boxing matches over the course of my lifetime and i'm not goign to remember everything about each one, certainly not unnoficial weights of boring fights.

he;s not going to get stronger than ortiz weighing an extra few lbs via rehydration (IE you eat more during training and weigh an extra few lbs on fight week, and then dry out and skip some calories until you get a chance to get on the scale)
being heavy against ortiz is counterproductive then
your advantage is speed. use it

he can accentuate an advantage in size over marquez (mostly to be able to absorb his punches) with a little rehydration magic
your chief advantage if your are floyd is your size if you are fighting marquez
                  use it

i make the intuitive leap for two reasons (and i respect your reasons for not making it, and appreciate you as a poster,)
                  one, the look
he looked to be carrying more water than regularly in there
and two (the most important he missed weight by two lbs

you dont do that if you either A:
cant make the weight (case and point recently was bam bam rios. when he couldnt make LW he rehydrated to a MW as a result on fight night)
or B: want to push your size advantage and bit teh bullet on the purse deductions

missing weight and showing up in a sweatsuit knowing full well he didnt kill himself to make the weight is what leads me to believe he was very heavy on fight night

                  that cracked me up
                  a sweatsuit, lol!
he walked in there feeling damn good and we all knew it
