Why does Floyd have to find someone to guarantee his purse?

While I don't know 20 people with $25 mill in the bank, I do know Floyd has that kind of money and he can guarantee his own purse, can't he?

Besides, what the hell is Arum doing to earn his money. Ain't he the promoter? Shouldn't he put up the money.

He wasn't getting 40 million to do that! And who is to say that Team Pac won't accept May 5th??

Arum will put up the money for Pacquiaos share, but why would he put up Floyds share unless Arum is his promoter?

Mayweather promotions is not a real promotion company. You gotta be dumb to garantee your own purse. If the fight is below expectations, then he takes a hit.

Get a calender for a guide. Its easy to understand. They,re only 3 weekks apart. and all them fall in May! Makes no difference when in May.
It makes a difference when one of them goes to jail June 1, Mayweather is going to have to get ready for jail and that would be hard to do during training camp. Bob Arum and Pacquiao know its not realistic to expect him to go from the fight to jail in only a week or so.

Naturally since Mayweather is locked into May 5th, Arum agrees to all of the terms he's asking for except the date. All Floyd would have to do to call their bluff would be to move the date he's willing to fight. I think Mayweather understands Arum wants nothing to do with him, although I'm not sure if Manny understands one bit of all of this or how he looks right now.

May 5th is the perfect date but Floyd Mayweather isn't the perfect opponent for Manny Pacquiao, in that he isn't a Top Rank fighter and he hasn't deteriorated enough.

Not only will Floyd get his guarantee, he will make a boatload more on top of it.

Very cool article describing Floyds business model in detail.
