.
Better opponents for Floyd.
Cotto
Berto/Ortiz II winner
Brook
Peterson
Jones
Khan
Maidana/Alexander winner
Matthysse
Morales (deserves the payday, might beat Guerrero)
That is not including any Top Rank fighters, JMW (Cotto could go down) or MW
Guerrero is not a bad fighter but why not fight ONE 140 fighter before? That's not too much to ask. He isn't a legend jumping up in weight.

Maybe read my post again ?
All I said was..... in light of the circumstances that I outlined earlier, Mayweather may be forced to settle for a lesser opponent in order to stay busy, I did not endorse Guerrero, or anyone else for that matter.
Chill bro, Mayweather aint fighting Guerrero.
BTW, the Berto/Ortiz II winner is not an option for May 5th, neither is Brook, neither is Morales, *** Mike Jones ya gotta be kidding, *** the JWW's Maidana Matthysse and Alexander as well, and Khan 1.) aint ready 2.) has business to take care of.
I think maybe I would pay for Bradley.
What about the other points I mentioned ?

Whats up with that ?
And, how can I take Pacquiao seriously when he states that he really wants to fight Mayweather, and that he is finally going to stand up for himself..... by suggesting to Arum that perhaps Mayweather should receive a "higher priority" than Peterson?Last edited by LeadUppercut; 01-10-2012, 02:12 AM.

Those guys you dismissed (and a quick turn around is not impossible, it happened with Mosley in 2010 + outside maybe Berto/Ortiz II they would all happily cancel their next fights) are still better opponents for Floyd.
I do agree with you though, Cotto is the only guy I would pay for sure to see Floyd fight next. Bradley too but that won't happen.

I take your point about the others, it would be possible to arrange something at short notice even though those guys are all contractually committed at present, but none of them are good fights, and other than Cotto/Bradley only 1 or 2 of them would be better than Guerrero.
Nope, the lightweight Guerrero cannot be justified, and it definitely would be possible to arrange a better opponent.
Some will say that a lightweight jumping up to challenge a welter is old hat and nothing new, to which I would reply that we have 18 divisions now.
Some will say that Marquez just did it successfully..... to which I would reply that Marquez was setup, and Guerrero is not Marquez.
Mayweather will not be fighting Guerrero next, I am pretty sure of that.
Lets wait and see.

Cotto is suppose to be a free agent now. To me Mayweather vs Cotto is still a megafight, maybe not as perfect as it would have been in 2008 but I never bought the propaganda that Cotto is washed up.
It would still rank as one of Mayweathers top wins.

I also think that Margarito is grossly over-rated, especially since Mosley, so Miguel's performance in a fight that did not see the championship rounds may be a little misleading.
Cotto looked like a different fighter against Jennings and Clottey.
If he were to win, I dont think that Mayweather should get the same credit as he would for beating Cotto in 2007..... just like Manny doesn't get the same credit as he would for beating Cotto in 2007 or for fighting him at 147.
And I think that Cotto's words immediately after Margarito could indicate that Top Rank will at least remain in the picture for his next 1-2 fights..... "Bob Arum will always be my promoter".
I agree, I thought that was bizarre too.
