Still don't believe it's Guerrero. I remember several sites claiming they had sources that Nate Campbell was close to reaching a deal with Floyd once the May-Pac negotiations broke down the first time, and it proved to be Shane Mosley, then the highest rated WW besides Floyd and Pac.
Canelo is possible, it's at least a better fight than Guerrero and would sell a s**t load of PPV's. But Alvarez is still a C+/B- fight, while Guerrero is a C-. I still think Cotto is a dark horse and could still end up being him. Cotto at 154 lbs is a B+ fight, same goes for Manny. Cotto is past his prime-still good, one of the top 154 lb fighters. Same guy he was in 09', only at 154. Mayweather-Cotto would sell a ton of PPV's too and would be stiff test at 154 lbs. No one can knock Floyd for fighting Cotto, it's legit. It's the same way that Pacquiao-Hatton was legit. Yes, Pac beat Cotto first, therefore he gets more credit for doing so, but Floyd still gets props for taking a past prime-still good Cotto down at 154.

Worst part about this fight: 40% of 24/7 will be devoted to Robert Guerrero's Wife with melancholy contemplative music playing in the background.

1.) Team Mayweather have identified the need for Floyd to stay active if he wishes to continue fighting at the highest level.
2.) If he did not fight in May and instead proceeded with his surrender, Floyd would not be in a position to fight until around July/August at the earliest, which will equate to 10-11 months of inactivity.
3.) PAC DON'T WANT NONE - I bolded that, as it is a reasonably important factor that you seem to be ignoring.
4.) Floyd will likely need to take a stay-busy opponent in the meantime.
Dont get me wrong, Guerrero cannot be justified. But considering that.....
* Mayweather fought the #1 and #3 welters in his last 2 fights
* He has to stay busy
* He is very limited regarding time, and is therefore limited re: his options
* and, PAC DONT WANT NONE
Then I think that we will have to accept that Mayweather will likely be forced to take a stay-busy fight in the interim.
I cannot see why that is such a big issue to be honest.
The following two issues are much more relevant imho.....
Explain to me how the hell Manny's cut will have healed in time for Pac to fight Marquez on May 5th, but it will not have healed in time for Pac to fight Mayweather on May 5th?
Whats up with that ?
And, how can I take Pacquiao seriously when he states that he really wants to fight Mayweather, and that he is finally going to stand up for himself..... by suggesting to Arum that perhaps Mayweather should receive a "higher priority" than Peterson?
GTFOH, that is absurd.Last edited by LeadUppercut; 01-10-2012, 01:17 AM.
