Completely agree. If JCC Jr. won't step into the ring with Martinez at 160, then how on God's green earth does S.O.G. think he's game for 168? Only angle here is that JCC Jr. would be able to retain his 160 strap if he lost at 168 to Ward...but even that security blanket won't be enough to get this protective baby out of the buffet line of tomato cans his daddy and Sulaiman have created for this hype job, with the occasional B- opponent sprinkled in for good measure, like Rubio.Comment

Ward was just in Mexico to accept his WBC belt from Sulaiman and was probably asked by one of the Mexican media if he'd like to face JCCJr. Ward wasn't going to bash JCCJr in front of the home country media. Either that or Dan Goosen told him to say that, in hopes of getting more publicity (Kind of like Guerrero does with Mayweather).
Fight will never happen because Bob would say Ward isn't a draw and I don't think Chavez Jr. has plans to move up anytime soon.Comment

When Ward won the super six he should have immediately turned his attention to Bute **** Chavez Jr Bute was the best fight available for himComment

It just seems that way because all the top guys in the division are B+ fighters at best. It's a deep division if you wanna look at it that way I guess. I'm not saying that because it's a division with a lot of European fighters there. It just aint this star studded division that people make it out to be and Ward gets too much credit for winning a tournament without fighting his toughest challenge in the division which is Bute.Comment

Ward has more fans than Martinez does because of the Oakland factor though.Completely agree. You would have to suggest that Ward was responding to a leading question.During his recent visit to Mexico, the super middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Andre Ward (25-0, 13 KOs), said that there are many big fights out there for him - including a future battle with current WBC middleweight king Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31KOs). Chavez is still fighting at 160-pounds, but his massive frame suggests a move to 168 in the near future. Chavez is known to gain as much as 20 pounds between the day of the weigh-in and the time of the actual fight.

What a ridiculous fight, and a ridiculous suggestion.Comment

Are you seriously suggesting sir, that Bute (who got knocked the fugg out by a fringe contender) is a more proven fighter @ Super-Middleweight than Froch & Kessler? It just seems that way because all the top guys in the division are B+ fighters at best. Guys, Ward did not fly to Mexico to call out Chavez.Where are all the Ward nut huggers trying to defend this garbage? Ward is a certified punk bitch in my book. I will admit that Bute's comp has been weak for the most part. But so has Ward's. Kessler, Froch, Abraham and all those guys in the tournament weren't good fighters to me. 168 is a dead division outside of Bute and Ward and that's why they need to fight each other. I'm starting to take back some of the things I said about Bute too, because he has said he wants to fight Ward while Ward has said he doesn't want the fight.
Would it even be possible to be interviewed by a Mexican reporter and NOT be asked about fighting Chavez or Canelo?
Not many Canadian journalists in Mexico

Exactly, that is almost certainly what happened.Ward was just in Mexico to accept his WBC belt from Sulaiman and was probably asked by one of the Mexican media if he'd like to face JCCJr. Ward wasn't going to bash JCCJr in front of the home country media. Either that or Dan Goosen told him to say that, in hopes of getting more publicity (Kind of like Guerrero does with Mayweather).
