This fight does absolutely nothing for Mayweather's legacy.

Not now but in 10-15 years when Canelo has won a few world titles and made his legacy as HOF people will look back on it as a great win.

Alvarez, AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME, is a C+ fight. Yes, maybe down the road Alvarez will go on to be a great Super Welterweight, Middleweight, Super Middleweight, or even Light Heavyweight Champion, and than the win would look great, but right now it's only a C+ to me.

If Canelo had beaten say Vanes or Angulo last year, than I'd say he has earned a right for a big fight and really proven himself, but he only beat Rhodes and Cintron, which are decent at best. If Canelo were to beat Cotto, Kirkland, or Lara, than I'd say he's earned it. But, right now, as it stands, a C+.

What really f**king sucks about all this is the fact that Bob Arum switched up on May 5th now that Floyd got his continuation and says that May 5th, Mayweather's return date, is no longer good because of his stadium dreams and Manny's cut. Also, what sucks as well is the fact that it seems like Manny isn't stepping up and forcing Arum to make the fight.

I will accept Mayweather-Alvarez, could turn out to be better than people think, but I won't really like it.

What he proves? That he dont need a catch weight to earn a title. That he can fight and beat a young stronger fighter with some abilities. Compare to the light middleweight title Pac earn by beating a one dimensional brawler. Floyd trying to prove a point.
