Why isn't there blame on Mayweather?

That's the million Dollar question. It appears both camps have pigeonholed themselves into a position.
Floyd now MUST fight on May 5th, because he is going to jail on June 1st. That says that like Pacquiao, he wants to stay active and get a fight in before the first half of the year is up.
Pacquiao's Team has previously said that he can't fight on May, that they won't wait on Floyd if he is in jail either and thus fight someone else according to their preferred timeline.
Why not just cut the **** and fight on May 5th. Not because Floyd said so, but because it's a reasonable amount of time for both camps to promote it, and train. And because the May 5th date represents the last BIG Boxing event (Mayweather Vs Delahoya).Comment

From what I understand, it isn't clear when Manny can fight. Arum said Manny was going to been cleared by a doctor so there is no final word. I'm just saying team Floyd should just wait a few more weeks and call out Arum instead of announcing a fight next week if it is true.
Did you ever consider that what Floyd and GBP are doing is posturing. They're trying to speed up the process and force Manny and co. to make a decision, FAST, instead of all this lengthy, drag out process.
Either Manny will say YES, lets fight or he won't. With the understanding that Floyd has no time to play around if he is going to the slammer on Jun 1.
I remember Arum placing a clock on his website, counting down the window of Floyd-Manny negotiations. Now the clock is on Manny. Floyd isn't going to jail this month, he will be available to train and promote the fight for the next 5 months, and the ball is in Manny's court.Comment

For real! If Floyd fought Peterson, they'd crucify him. Alvarez at 154 lbs is a better fight than Lamont Peterson, real talk. And this is coming from someone that said Alvarez at 154 is a C+ pick for Floyd. The only beef I have if Floyd fights Alvarez is that Canel hasn't earned it. If he'd fought Vanes or Angulo last year and won, than I'd say he's earned a fight with Mayweather. If he were to beat Cotto, Kirkland, or Lara, I'd say he's earned a fight with Floyd.
Grades for each guys opposition.....
Manny
Marquez at 144: C
Peterson at 144 or 147: C-
Cotto at 154: B+
Cotto at 147-150: C+
Bradley at 144 or 147: A-
Mayweather: A+
Martinez at 147: D
Martinez at 150: C
Martinez at 154: A
Martinez at 157: A+
Sergio will not happen for Manny, that's been proven.
Floyd
Peterson at 147: C-
Cotto at 154: B+
Martinez at 154/155: A
Bradley at 147: A-
Alvarez at 154: C+
Guerrero at 144 or 147: D+
Bradley will not happen for Floyd, no way Bob Arum lets Floyd fight him before Manny.
So, if it's not each other, which it seems like it won't be, than we know who each should fight.
Manny should fight Bradley or Cotto at 154. Floyd should fight Cotto at 154or Martinez at 154/155. If Pacquiao chose to fight Cotto at 147-150, I would accept it, but I would not like it. If Mayweather chose to fight Alvarez at 154, I would accept it, but not like it at this moment in time.Comment

So....while Arum says Manny won't be ready for May and Schaefer and Ellerbe can't get Bob to consider Floyd on May 5th, it would be Floyd's fault if he signs to fight someone else in the next couple weeks???Comment

Both sides certainly deserve blame. If I am Mayweathers team or Golden Boy, i call a press conference in which I publicly fax over a contract to Top Rank for a May 5th fight with Pacman and say if there is any issues they are waiting by the phone to set up a negotiation. That would really put the pressure on Arum. If Floyd is fighting anyone but Pac in may, it will be the first of his fights I don't watch in a long time. The sucker punch he put on Ortiz left a bad taste in my mouth.Comment

Oh you bet your ass theres alot of blame on floyd.
Like how he put himself in this position to even begin with. Lets not forget about the defamation case as well. And how Al Haymon won't pick up Top Ranks phone calls. And now GBP is throwing out Canelo and Guerrerro who are both jokes.
Floyd has never had any intention of fighting Pac. Period.
This is what should happen. Both floyd and Pac should take a stay busy fight in the summer and then floyd will go to jail and hopefully he gets out in 3 months and then he fights Pac on Dec 21. 2012 even tho its a friday. That way they can't make excuses like floyd was distracted about going to jail and what notComment

first of all, arum did not say pac cant fight in may, he said late may is OK. second, in case you havent noticed, floyd's choices are limited to canelo and guerrero according to GBP(it's on the main page). that's that without even attemting to negoatiate with team pac.Comment
