Cotto seems likely. Mayweather has been fighting guys that were coming off big wins.

I wouldn't consider the Margarito fight a big win for Cotto. Margarito is shot and the stoppage was caused by a damaged eye socket, an eye socket that Pacquiao broke a year earlier. Mayweather needs to fight Pacquiao before they both get too old.

so if they will announce it next week that means there's already a designated opponent...and of course before that there were negotiations made with the said opponent.

The only big fight other then Manny would be Cotto. Cotto would make him the most money aside from Manny. As much as diehard boxing fans would love to see Sergio and Floyd, there just isn't enough attraction from the average boxing fan for Sergio.
