This is a good move for him, I'm really glad he's doing it.
In the U.S. there is a case but it depends on what standards you base it on.

Seriously though...Pac n Mayweather could fight ANYWHERE in the U.S. and sell it out. Not Cotto.

Absolutely, that's why Cotto is a distant 3rd. In international boxing the Klitschko's have him beat by a healthy margin too, but in the US he's #3.

He is a viable PPV main event draw against almost any opponent and he can sell a viable amount of tickets anywhere. Not sell out of course, but he can draw 7-10k wherever he is.

Cotto wanted a rematch with Pacquiao, but Arum, Roach and Pac have other plans.....so he decided to left TR.

              Good for Miguel.

              If I may add:

              Pretty much states that:

When De la Hoya broke ties with TR, he had established his own company. The main difference between companies like “Canelo Promotions” (Alvarez) o “Tijuana Promotions” (Margarito) and “Promociones Miguel Cotto” is that Miguel’s currently presents 10 fights per year. (Implying that Canelo and Tijuana are just fronts and not real promoting companies).

Additionally, he (Cotto) indicated that he has established a great working relationship with HBO and Showtime so he’ll have no problems with either. (Implying that he faced some limitations before when attached with TR).

Within the article he also stated that he will like more fights through the year. So....are we going to see a more active Cotto for 2012? I hope so!!

Canelo -vs- Cotto can now become reality. Let's make this happen for Cinco De Mayo weekend!

Also Pacquaio's options are now limited to Bradley, Marquez and Peterson; who do you think they'll fight next?

This paves the way for Cotto vs Mayweather.
