    8 Divisions, 1 Belt.....Who are the champs?

If we were back to the days of only the 8 original divisions and only 1 belt, instead of the alphabet titles of today, who would be the champs.

    Here is my list.

    Heavyweight: Wlad Klitschko

    Light-Heavyweight: Bernard Hopkins

    Middleweight: Sergio Martinez

    Welterweight: Manny Pacquiao

    Lightweight: Juan Manual Marquez

    Featherweight: Yuriorkis Gamboa

    Batamweight: Nonito Donaire

    Flyweight: Pongsaklek Wonjongkam

I agree with all but Hopkins and Manny. I'd replace them with Ward and Floyd.

doesn't necessarily have to be who is the best in the division or who would win a fight between the two.

even with only one belt , promoters with their influence and with their stables can still affect who has the title.

example: pacquiao is top rank and golden boy has a piece of him (a bigger piece when he fights a gbp fighter).

when floyd retired all the top 147 fighters were tr and gbp.

puts pacquiao in a better position to get and keep that 147 title.

I'm not thinking outside the box like that though.

If i was then yeah i can see how Pacquiao or another fighter may have the title due to promotional reasons, injuries to other fighters, etc.

My list is just based on who i think would be the best at each weight class and simply rewarding them with the title.

but he didn't ask who is the best.

he asked who would be champs.

just play along , it's more fun my way.

the weird one for me is bute. i just think he makes so much money in canada that he'd probably get the title shot somehow.

especially since opponents would probably prefer to fight him over hopkins.
