There are probably a rare few who are willing to sacrifice their lives in the ring. I believe Margarito is actually one of those. It's mostly just to hype up a fight.

Saying they will die in the ring is to help hype and sell a fight. Chavez wants to be like his daddy, but hopefully Rubio will be his daddy
            Funny as fuck, that picture!!!

The victory is one outside of the ring.

Marg doesn't train technically on his mistakes.

He's never tried to die outside of the ring to change them... so fuc.k 'em.

One must continually strive for success, self correcting mistakes, he's not that type of fighter. Thus his downfall inside of it.

Fighters with that mentality do exist, maybe it's instill in them and they're not thinking about their well being in there, simply their determination to win. I'm talking Gatti, Corrales, Margarito, those are the some of the few exceptions.

Still remember how Casamayor busted Corrales' lip open, serious amount of blood dripping all over the place and the dude begged and begged for an extra round. Still remember how Clottey completely dominated him, Corrales, a shell of his former self, attempted to pull the same move he did against Castillo, he took out his mouth piece, he actually believed he could get back in it. Can't describe how outmatched he was or how helpless he looked, to still believe he can win, fuckin' amazing

Well...technically speaking, If you prepare for 3 months, to kill or cause as much destruction to another human being, lace up gloves and go in to a ring with the intention of fighting for your life, than surely the fear of dying will cross your mind. This is boxing, you could easily be severely harmed or even die in there, The boxers know this. So what i am saying is, all the boxers are people who have balls and are willing to die in there to a certain extent. They have stepped in the ring to face another man trying to kill them using their fists.

By the way, Michael katsidis and Antonio Margarito are the only fighters i can think of that WOULD die in the ring without a care as long as they can destroy the other person.

Outstanding point of view and I 100% agree with you. In order to be successfull you need to identify your deficiencies and know the areas you are weak and improve from there.

Well I.think ur taking the phrase out if context. When fighters like margarito.say it.... it means he wont quit no matter how much of a beating hes taking. In that sense they mean it. Fighters have died in the ring in the past and even recently. Their goal wasn't to die...but when u step in the ring u have to accept that its a small possibility.
