  • "I'll Die on the Ring" -The Margarito Syndrome

    What is your take?

I believe this is an OVERRATED/OVERHYPED fad. These guys are professional boxers. They do this for money, and are expected to give 110% in a fight.

The "die on the ring" thing is overrated and overhyped. I call it:

    “The Margarito Syndrome”

Recently, Max Kellerman put into Margarito’s mouth the “...would you die on the ring..” and he (Margarito) ran with it.

Now, Chavez Jr. said that he would “die on the ring”, and some folks are going wild with this. This is part of the show, don’t take it literary folks! You have to keep it real.

If a boxer were given the choice of dying and wining or living and losing 99.99999999999% will choose the later.

So what you think? Overrated/overhyped Fad or “I’m the Macho Man”, and will die on the ring? Explain why.

Its simple. Its done to rile up the fanbase. Surely they wouldn't want to die in the ring with the kids and wife witnessing that. Lets get real.

Check out my dye on the ring. Pretty cool huh

Saying they will die in the ring is to help hype and sell a fight. Chavez wants to be like his daddy, but hopefully Rubio will be his daddy

I actually think Margarito is that .00000000001 Chavez is saying that just to get attention. Make him seem like he is half as proud as the other Mexicans.

Marg isn't the first to say something like this, I'm sure it's been going on since the birth of the sport.

It certainly ain't going away either.

You hear the "I'm willing to die in the ring" thing with Mexican fighters fairly frequently... I believe some boxers probably would be willing. Margarito being one them.... Marquez has said it aswell
also Arturo Gatti. I'm sure the vast majority wouldn't

I think the difference with Margarito is you actually believe it. The dude is nuts.

But to be honest; it's idiotic to want to even contemplate that. For what you know?

I think in the face-off with Cotto-Marg II; Cotto's answer was perfect to that question.

I got respect for the dudes willing to leave it all in the ring but is it sensible? Hell no.

these guys are fighters for a living, they should have this mentality, they are warriors. I got respect for fighters with this mentality cause thats how they need to be, they get paid millions to take the risk.

Obviosuly they wouldn't die, but they mean they will go to war, get their face all f'd up, break a hand, cut up their face and keep fighting and taking risks, this is boxing its what its all about.
