That's not as idiotic as it sounds. Tyson was great at actually getting on the inside, but he wasn't really much of an infighter.. if you clinched him he didn't know what to do! Tyson relied on landing punches from the outside range, or ducking/slipping a shot(s) with his elusive upper body and counter-punching rather than getting inside and leading or infighting. Tyson often got inside only to throw a few punches or get clinched and then straight back out again.

Not only that but you would have to be a moron to think that anyone back then coulda beat him. Bonecrusher Smith, Tony Tucker, Michael Spinks, please. When Mike won the title he became the man to beat and his unification would prove that.Plus when are we gonna see another 20 year old win a HW championship...how about never. What he did was amazing and he was a truly great fighter back then too, he could do it all.

in terms of "greatness"?

In the 1990s i think Holyfield, Benn, Eubank, RJJ. cant really think of any other "great" fighters.

95 to 05 i think Holyfield, Lennox, Naz, RJJ. thats it really, no more than that who were "great".


in terms of "ability" though i think Whitaker and Chavez are the best of the last 15 yrs overall, RJJ is right up there, DLH & Tito are up there, and u have to say B-Hop deserves a mention for actually beating Tito and DLH & only losing to RJJ in 15+ yrs. i think the best of the 00's will end up being PBF who will never lose!

id say benn is on th fence, but neither naz and eubank are close to being considered great

Dude Mike Tyson was a fearsome inside fighter he just didn't wanna work all the time on the inside, cause he had a tendency to be lazy, so he let guys clinch him. Not only that but it takes alot of work to push guys off and throw punches.

See when I first started to box, I thought the same thing. I thought why don't fighters throw more instead of clicnhing or letting themselves get tied up, like Mike Tyson. And I found out that it takes alot of work to do that. Sometimes you just wanna rest!

Yeah thats me and my girl, I'm real lucky, cause she is way outta my league and she is the coolest chick I ever met, so I'm hanging on to her like Boncrusher held on to Tyson.
