    Who The Hell Is Great?

When listening to posters on this site, sometimes I wonder what fighter isn't overated? If how I thought about boxing was soley based on what others, particulary on here said, I would think everyone sucks. If you listen to the online boxing community Roy Jones isn't great, Mike Tyson isn't great, Felix Trinidad isn't great, Bernard Hopkins isn't great and the list goes on. Why arn't these guys great? The usual answer is THEY NEVER FAUGHT NOBODY!!! Sometimes I think to myself...well who have you faught? I mean I am not fighter but I am not the one saying that everybody didn't fight nobody. Shouldn't we give these fighters respect for being fighters? Reguardless of who they faught, to win titles on a professional level can't be easy. You know what? I don't think boxing is easy, even for great fighters. It requires alot on intangibles that most human beings don't have. All I am saying is, maybe we as boxing fans shouldn't critize championship caliber fighters careers so much. They were champions and are champions in a sport where the other guy is trying to knock their head off for 12 rounds.

        I agree, The Truth.

I think that when you are reading people's opinion's, dilute what they are actually saying, and then you reach the real reason why they are saying it. I think people go to extreme's sometimes like "Mike Tyson fought nobody", but if you where around then you would realise he was fighting anyone and everyone that came in his path and that Don King put in front of him.

the thing is that, not everyone thinks the same, i think its a good thing, but its also why we are never going to hace an absolute truth, someone is always going to question other people's opinion. thats what makes internet forums fun because its a good place to argue and see other peoples opinions, no matter how bright or ****** they are.

Pfffft, this is a forum which is for debate and discussion. I didn't come here to suck **** and play patty cake by agreeing with what everybody says about a fighter no matter how ridiculous it is.

Very well said. The reason why this board turned into an on-line boxing version of Jerry Springer show, is because every fighter out there has two teams behind him: Huggers and Haters. The bs that is being said about the fighter in 90% of the time has nothing to do with the fighter himself. It's one team trying to piss off another.

                  hmm

Tyson isn't an all-time great, but I see your point and I agree.

Way too many asshats on here dis the likes of DLH, Hopkins, Jones, etc. It's ridiculous. These are the best fighters of our era and that alone makes them great.

Having been a boxer for 3 years I can say you are right. **** is a trite difficult. Too many arm-chair QB"S around here.
