Martinez is also a coward...he has been calling smaller fighters like Manny and Floyd, why not call bigger fighters like Bute or Ward...guess he doesn't want his ass getting kicked...

i agree with you...let him fight Bute rather than calling the smaller Manny and Floyd. Martinez is a coward too

He could've defended against Zbik off air and kept the damn belt if he cared so much about it.

And to JC Jr's defense, why the hell is Sergio so obsessed about fighting a pedestrian so called "middleweight champ"? There are far more challenges and belt holders @ 160 like Sturm, Pirog, Geale or young bucks like Proksa, Golovkin and Macklin that enhance his middleweight supremacy more than JC Jr. Quit the politics and fight more often Sergio!
I agree definitely with the fact that Martinez doesn't fight enough. He needs to fight at least 3 times next year, but this is just wishful thinking. This only should happen if he can make easy work of Macklin and his next opponent.

Also, Chavez Jr. has absolutely no defense. Sergio doesn't care if he's "pedestrian", the fact is, he has a name, a fan-base, and the true WBC middleweight title. Potentially and most likely, Chavez Jr. is easy work and easy money. Simply put, Chavez Jr. is worth more than the young bucks you mentioned, combined.

Firstly cong**** to Sergio for having the balls to stand up to that corrupt wbc president jose sulaiman, dan raphael is right such a worm sulaiman is.
Only legit titles: IBF and the Ring...

Although GoldenBoy own The Ring now so i only hope no controversy happens there.

Finally does this mean the diamond belt is only up for grabs if Macklin wins?

The real problem of Sergio is that he knows he has no staying power in boxing....that he is only a lucky puncher....so he wants to cash in now among the cash cows....Pirog would school Sergio all day long & cut his p4p pretensions...

I would sue WBC president for making false statements... Chavez Jr. is a joke.. As for Roach his days of being a well known coach are up.. He only had Pac-man but Pac had to be taking something to make him quick and strong but now those things that he was taking are starting to impact his health and if someone did a precise examination of him they would find something... Money goes a long way that is all i can say!!!

Something is very fishy about the timing of this announcement. Why not wait a week or 2 to see if the WBC was going to strip Chavez or not? Why do this right now, as opposed to 2 weeks from now?

All this did was to allow Chavez to keep the belt, and for the Chavez-Rubio promotion to go forward as a "world title fight". It also let the WBC off the hook as far as having to make a decision as to whether to strip Chavez, or face a lawsuit if they sanctioned Chavez-Rubio.

Something is rotten in Denmark here.........

Because real boxing fans know the truth: Sergio Martinez wants no part of JCC JR.

Sergio Martinez will keep calling out small welterweights while JCC JR keeps fighting middleweights.

lol, not exactly what I was thinking. I was thinking more that Martinez got some kind of compensation for vacating. But nice try......

Sergio Martinez will do anything to avoid JCC JR. Why do you think he's calling out small welterweights and eurobums even BOXREC hasn't heard of?
