Comments Thread For: Mayweather Sr. is Livid Over Roach's Continued Awards

Floyd Mayweather Sr. is angry at the continued praise of trainer Freddie Roach. The two fomer fighters, now trainers, have always been at odds. Mayweather Sr. is questioning why his brother, Roger Mayweather, has never been awarded with any yearly honors for his training work with five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. Roach, mainly for his work with Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, has won several "trainer of the year" awards. Mayweather Sr. thinks Roach's work with Pacquiao and Khan is overrated and another trainer should finally get his just due with the yearly honors.

He makes a good point about Roger never being awarded anything.

I think more awards should go to trainers who have been able to make mediocre talent into championship calibre fighters.

No offense to Roger or Roach, but Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are well-established fighters by now. Training Pacquiao to another world title now is not the same accomplishment as it was to train Pacquiao 10 years ago when he was a struggling, raw fighter.

roger shouldn't win **** if hes only training ONE champion-level fighter and that fighter only fights once every year and a half

Freddie definitely doesn't deserve any awards for 2011.

I think Garcia, who's guided Rios to a title, Donaire to the bantamweight title, and Mikey to the NABO/NABF titles should get the award this year.
