Canelo hasn't fought a top fighter? Really? Rhodes? If you want to downgrade that one, I can go with the Yuri Foreman route.

Kirkland has some good wins and so what if Angulo got stopped, Cotto got stopped before twice and he was still one of the best AND ranked top 5 at the weight(147). Am I right?

Cotto is going to fight Delvin Rodriguez next. Watch!
Rhodes, give me a break. Who did Rhodes beat? Like the WBC hasn't paved the way for Canelo or Chavez Jr for that matter.

Canelo has promise but is not the man to beat at 154.

Have you even read the key points that I posted. Till this point I have not said that Cotto is #1 at SWW and that Angulo has the best record at that weight. Molina has faced better opposition than Canelo.

But right now by default Cotto is the #1 SWW. If Kirkland beats Molina it is going to be him. Don't sleep on Lara either.

Cotto's next opponent won't be Rodriguez (who is not a bad fighter, he has been in the bad end of decisions) but more like Vanes

Bundrage has the best resume in the division, and is truly the only guy deserving of a #1 ranking.

Spinks (Ranked #4 in the divsion)
      Baysangurov (Current WBO title holder)
      &
Powell (Ranked top ten in the division)

Are more quality wins than anybody else has in that division.

Cotto's victories over a couple of unranked, shot fighters, and a guy with Forrest Gump knees shouldn't be enough to secure a #1 ranking.

Cotto is only placed @ #1 by the RING because of his popularity, not because he actually earned the spot.

No one really deserves to be #1 at JMW. Cotto is there by default as he has a belt and has had the best career.

Separating all of their resumes at JMW is like splitting hairs...none of them are impressive.

Think about it.....if Cotto fought Canelo the winner would be the Ring Champ....neither one of them would deserve that even if they beat the other.

If Chavez doesn't get stripped Cotto will fight him. If he does I think Cotto will fight Pacquiao again, as unecessary as it is.

Canelo hasn't fought a top jr middleweight since he has arrived. Why do you think that will change? Over weight on his first title shot against a small WW,beat two shot fighters in Gomez and Cintron.

i don't want to get into a martinez fight cause we know that won't happen, so these would be the best options:
              pacquiao at 154 (possibly a 152 cw)
              alvarez
              chavez jr
              williams
berto/ortiz II winner at a cw if he doesn't feel like moving down to 147 again.

Personally id like Cotto to take on Martinez as my first choice.Chavez-ehh not to fond about unless if Cotto beats him then goes for Martinez after words.I don't bother thinking about any other fighters due to the in-house tradition.Arum really needs to cough out a lot of money to keep Cotto.A Pacquioa fight isn't appealing to me,not for them time being and I'm sure it wouldn't sell.A unification with k-9 is last reserve imo.The 154 division is so scrambled you can't identify who's who.A lot of fighters have suffered some set backs through the year so its a bit difficult to determine lineal status etc.

Ryan Rhodes was a top fighter for Canelo?

yeah but i'm not sure cotto would face such a small name like k9, vanes either tbh. it's a possibility though, he looked good in his last fight and his new trainer looks like a good fit for him. i would like to see him face williams or alvarez. those two are the biggest names at 154, those would be his best options after pacquiao. chavez at 160 might be a bit too much for him (even though he's not that good, he's a big guy and slightly improving) but i think after facing someone like williams or alvarez, we would be able to tell for sure if it would be or not.

Umm... I thought Chavez was confirmed to be fighting Rubio on february and Martinez gets the winner. Meaning no way in hell is Chavez keeping that belt, so cotto vs chavez is very unlikely.

Cotto vs Alvarez makes the most sense, and that;s exactly why it won't happen.
