I've been saying this for quite some time now.

There are a few posters on here that feel like old school fighters win every fantasy matchup hands down.

I think the feeling with pretty much all sports apart from Athletics is that the greats from any era would be greats no matter what era they are in.

Watch a video of Sugar Ray Robinson throwing combinations and show me the current middleweight who can do the same. The Heavyweight division is an embarassment and is actually in worse shape than fighters of the past.

^^^Is this a joke? WHy does the guy on the right have "Fast Eddie" on his lard stomach? Has to be an elaborate hoax surely.

New school fighters can't even fight inside..let alone move their heads after they punch.

Old School fighters > Modern fighters

If it has why isn't it benefitting modern fighters???????

Be SPECIFIC about these modern advances...don't just throw out VAGUE statements like "advanced training and nutrition"..

Take me through all this new shi.t you're dreaming about.

                  Jack Johnson had:
                  Heavy bag
                  Speed bag
                  double end bag
                  jump rope
                  medicine bag
                  hand weights
                  free weights
                  sparring partners
                  sparring mitts
                  road word
                  swimming
                  STRICT DIET
                  ect ect ect

I'm not that sure why but likely because of competition, less politics, more fights than vacations, 15rounder ( even more for the very old timers ), lesser divisions ( means more talent on 1 division ), same day weigh-in ( though imo wouldn't want this one ).

I'd give any modern fighter a fair shake in Fantasy Fights not so much on ATG ranking where, imo, I value level of competition > longevity > titles > talent > win-loss record .

Also, take basketball, teams expand from 9 to 30. Level of competition is stiffer hence it was easier for the boston celts to amass a big number of championships whereas any team now can probably take 3 at most.

Because boxing skills and endurance is another level. The guys from the past went 15 rounds.

Not everyone back in the day was better, but the skills of movement, combination and feints etc...
