They both fought in such different era's, that it's almost not even fair to compare the two.

To say Ray Robinson whoops Floyd is an insult to Floyd. Mayweather is an ATG as well, maybe the best defensive fighter ever and one of the best counter punchers ever. Floyd was naturally a little smaller than Ray though. Floyd's best weight was 130 lbs.

It'd be 50/50, but overall in terms of resume and career, Robinson is one of the top 5 ATG's, where as Floyd is around top 30 or so, right now.

So the only way we can judge this fight is middleweight Sugar Ray against welterweight Floyd.
        So Floyd wins still right??

Sugar Ray Robinson vs Jake Lamotta III

One of Ray's best wins in his prime. Was trying to find his fight against Armstrong, but was unable to.

          Floyd Mayweather vs. Ricky Hatton

One of Floyd's best wins at Welterweight in his prime

I realize Hatton was not Floyd's absolute greatest performance, but it was one of his biggest wins at 147, in his prime years.

So, there's two good looks at each guy in their primes at 147 against top people. They are such different era's, it's almost not even fair to compare them.

31 ko wins in round 1 or 2

Floyd has never beaten a guy as big as srr and probably never beaten anyone as good the combination of the two would give Floyd virtually no chance assuming srr had all the modern day advantages that Floyd enjoys.

this **** is too much...people in here talkin like floyd would dominate robinson. you wanna say he could beat him fair enough...but dominate him? floyd struggled with castillo and a past it de la hoya...and we're talkin prime ray robinson. there aint **** floyd could do to discourage robinson from gettin in that azz. floyd would literally have to fight the perfect fight to make it out conscious...and even if he did he'd probably still get out pointed. floyd might have a good shot against a washed up robinson.

Ok, and how many SRR fights did you attend? Point remains. You can watch both guys on YouTube. Because you weren't alive during Robinson's doesn't mean your eyes deceive you when watching him on video.

Guys like Floyd, Leonard, Mosley, etc all theoretically have chances against Ray Robinson. The way I see it is, yes, Robinson would have trouble catching Floyd clean, but he took risks and Floyd is smart enough to know the difference between being risky against a Ricky Hatton and a Ray Robinson. Could be an exciting fight, could be a cat and mouse snoozefest. I favor Robinson, but wouldn't be overly shocked to see Floyd get a win.
