floyd, SRL, hearns, hagler, mosley, de la hoya all have a better than good chance to beat SRR at welter. you cant deny evolution, and the sport has evolved where todays fighters are just being trained harder and better than fighters of yesterday, its jus plain and simple science...
Would Floyd Mayweather have any chance against Ray Robinson?

I think people give too much power to the past...Robinson wasn't invincible...he was just tough as nails...he had speed but his technique was horrible...Floyd would wide UD him easily...to give Robinson such an advantage back then is like giving damn near everyone the advantage back then...Comment

Evolution? It's been like 50 years, boxing hasn't changed that much. 140 pound men are still 140 pound men, and in all reality trainers and technique is worse today than it was back then. Floyd's the exception rather than the rule nowadays. Training is probably worse too across the board, considering guys like Robinson went 15 rounds and guys today can barely go 12 for the most part.floyd, SRL, hearns, hagler, mosley, de la hoya all have a better than good chance to beat SRR at welter. you cant deny evolution, and the sport has evolved where todays fighters are just being trained harder and better than fighters of yesterday, its jus plain and simple science...Comment

I too hate how people overrate past fighter just because they did it first.
They act like as if no one will ever presently or in the future beat SRR. Like he was invincible or some ****.
If he was he wouldnt have been beaten.
Based on footages that i have seen, which is as much footage as anyone here on NSB have ever seen, He looks completely beatable.
People have truly been hoaxed into believing past greats are so great its disguisting.
IMO, Floyd beats SRR 6/10 times at a minimum. Im as familair with SRR as anyone else on this board, which is not much at all, given theyve seen as much footage as i have.
I would love to be proven wrong, as i too want to see SRR in the lwoer weight classes, after hearing all the hype. He also appears to be a great guy who everyone at the time admired, so i like him for that. But Floyd is just too skilled. He presents skills that just werent used back in the days. OO boy imma get flamed.
So until there are better unleaked footages out there kept in a safe of SRR, the stuff that are out that doesnt prove anything to me. Anything else is heresay.
BTW Hearns beat SRR.
BTW 2, im fine with people calling him the greatest because of what he has done and achieved, but the dude is sooo beatable.Last edited by Oxn; 12-27-2011, 02:39 PM.Comment

Nah that was the era where men where men and tougher than nails.
I think SRR would chase Mayweather down and put a hurt on him.Comment
