Is Ward scared to face Bute?

I get a bit of a feeling that Ward is reluctant to face Bute because of more than just how he has not faced 'a top level' fighter before.

I mean, really, what does it matter who he has faced if he's considered the top contender?

Please vote and give your opinion as to why you think Ward doesn't want this matchup yet.

I think he's a little exhausted from his recent schedule and just wants to take a break before such a risky fight. (meaning he's scared to fight right away)

I'm a Bute fan and it has nothing to do with fear.

Ward is just looking at his options, he probably wants to take a fight that is not too risky, and I don't blame him, he's had a pretty tough run.

All that really matters is that the fight happens before the end of 2012, and I do believe Ward wants the fight just as much as Bute, but not right away.

Bute is the CLEAR #1 contender. Hes been champ for about 5 years, has wins over Bika, Miranda (and beat them better than Ward did) also Glen Johnson.

Bute is the longest reigning champion at 168 and the CLEAR #1 contender.

No one else at 168 at this point even comes close to his credentials.

What's wrong with Bute fighting Kessler, Pavlik, Cloud, or Hopkins; then fighting Ward?

Personally, I don't think "anyone" is title worthy at 168 at the moment. I think Bute, Dirrel bros, Froch and everyone else needs to work their way back up to the top. They all need to fight each other to determine who's ready for a title shot.

Even though Bute is probably the "best fighter" (I'd have to see him fight solid comp to determine first) to challenge Ward at the moment, that doesn't necessarily mean that he should just get a title shot immediately after the tourny ends.

ward has earned the right to fight whomever he wants next time out. no fighter goes on a crazy pace of beltholders/number 1 contenders without taking one or 2 easy fights in between. not a person. ppl are just being unrealistic.

add to the fact that bute really dont deserve a title shot. hes fighting froch possbibly. to me, that would be the best fighter hes fought in his career by far. let him do that, let him actually earn his frikkin shot.
